Help on Uniloc Shaft getting stuck

Somehow my uniloc 314 shaft is stuck to the butt. It appears to be unscrewed, I just can't pull it apart... or screw it back together. It is absolutely useless at the moment. Any suggestions on what to do?

Wow, this same thing happened to me a few months back, on my predator sneaky pete. I had a guy with really big hands twist on it for awhile and it finally gave. I've never had that problem before or since...Good Luck!

This is a known problem with the 314 Shaft/Joint. Joint protectors may prevent it-I just got mine in Oregon from Onthewire. They aren't that easy to come by period and near impossible in Generic.

If you have the quick release Uni Loc, the smooth pin is prone to seize in the female end of the shaft, if it is dirty or has a build up of crud(dirt, grease, etc). Try cleaning the pin off with rubbing alcohol (assuming you get it apart without breaking the friggin thing) and spray a little WD-40 on it. Wipe the excess WD-40 off. Use joint protectors to keep the crap out of it. Lint can be hell on that particular joint.

I will certainly do a careful cleaning job once I get it apart. For now I am concerned with how in the world I am going to accomplish that without breaking/denting/warping anything. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If it's unscrewed, I would try to keep turning it counterclockwise, while pulling it apart.

The solution is very simple, Seeing it is apart a little, squirt a little lacquer thinner on the pin and blow it with an air hose so it goes into the shaft, Wait one minute and unscrew the cue, Seeing buyers of the uni-loc cues are not giving joint protectors, dirt accumulates. Buy the caps and once a month, A Q Tip and a light cleaner or alcohol will do the trick.

You used to be able to order the generic JPs for $12.50 for a 2x1 set direct from Uni-Loc. Now they seem to be part of Atlas Billiard supplies and they have a $50 minimum order, so you have to pay a more for the fancy ones with the Predator logo stuck on them from Seyberts or someone like that.

Honestly...

Stick it in a freezer for about 15 minutes. The joint will come loose with one sharp twist.

"a freezer"

Hehehehe... good one.

I wasn't sure of the location of the person asking the question. I figured the "act" of putting the cue outside the door (the great outdoors being the freezer) for 15 minutes would help his situation.

I forgot to put myself in his shoes in my response. I'm in the wrong. Only thing I knew is that it worked for me when I did it.

What's the status? You get it fixed?? By the way, I ordered Uni-loc JPs from Ozone Monday and they're already here. Super fast.

I wonder if vaseline would work? Maybe just a little dab to keep it lubed up.

Try sprtzing a little WD-40 into the joint (you say it appears to be apart but...); you should be able to squeeze the WD-40 air tube in a little. Let it sit for about 2 minutes, and try again.

If all else fails, take it to your local pool hall and have the biggest guy in there help you by standing at one end of the cue, and you at the other. You twist the opposite way of him while both pulling!!! You said you were desperate right!
