I am throwing a nice little Tournament of Champions here in southern Oregon this weekend and the room bought a Linksys Wireless-G PTZ Internet Camera with Audio to webstream matches.

However, there is too much light. There is no white balance or sophisticated controls in the software, so the balls are all washed out. We tried for an hour to get good lighting and there was only one place, which was about eye height. Unfortunately, there is no way he will leave it on a tripod to get knocked over or stolen. Right now it is mounted on a computer 12 feet high or so.

Does anyone know what we can do to fix it? We figured out it is probably the glare of the cloth, since we covered the light with black cloth and you still could not see the balls. We also moved the camera all over the place, pointed it at one table, etc. It does not zoom very much, because I thought that would have fixed it.

If you want to see how bad it is, or to give me some suggestions before tomorrow, the website is cybercentersportsgrill.com. Click the link on the right side panel. His son put up the explanation, so ignore the spelling errors. :p

A pop-up window will come in to login. My main window hid this popup, so I had to minimize to find it. Login is Guest, with no password.

Click 'View Video' on the top of the screen. It may ask you to install an ActiveX control 'PlayerPT.cab. Go ahead and install it.

We are going to be there at 6pm Pacific tonight to hold our regular Friday night tournament and to do the draw for Saturday's tourney, so you can watch the goings on there, but I really want to fix this problem so we can be online every Tuesday, Friday and tournament weekends.

Thanks so much for your help. Big rep for the person(s) that can fix it.

If it was me I would ask Fast Lenny on here. He from what I have seen here at AZ knows his stuff very well & is very good to talk to. Good luck.

I think thats just a surveillance camera, I don't think its going to do what you want it to.

The camera you have is not going to show a high quality image, you should find a mini-dv camera with a firewire, that would work much better. I know some people try to use webcams but they really do not work well.

Linda,

That camera setup will only allow up to 10 viewers, even if you get it to work.

Tell them to get their money back asap or simply set it up at the house for surveilance when they are away.

I have a mini-dv camera and suggested it, but how do you hook it up to play on the internet with the firewire?

If your mini-dv camera has a firewire hookup and so does your computer then your computer should automatically recognize it. If it has USB it will work also but just not as well. Let us know if you need anymore help getting going.
