Help w/ run out

Ok so after a pretty horrible break i was left with this table. I did manage to run it out though, althout w/ a lot of mistakes and a couple of harder than necesarry shots due to bad speed. What would you route have been and what would you have done different? I'm trying to improve my position play so any suggestions would be appretiated.

If I am viewing your runout correctly, you shot the 5 cross corner with draw sending the cueball three rails for a straight shot on the 6, then later you made the 8 ball with masse on the cueball so it went in circular path for position on the nine.

If this is correct you do not need any help with your game it already is up there with the best in the world. If it was on a computer game then I don't know anything about this.

I don't understand how you got from the 8 to the 9. Am I looking at it right because it looks like the cue turned at a 45 degree angle by itself.

Me too. I see a couple funny CB turns in there where there is no angle to make it go that way.

Sorry i'm really not good with that table :) so i'll explain.

1 ball: i shot with draw back towards the 2

2 ball: the two i shoot with just a little draw.

3 ball: hit this with follow and a bit of right english back table for the 4

4 ball: the 4 i hit with draw, and not enough which left me in the bad position for the 5.

5 ball: this shot was going to be hard enough so i hit it center ball, this went 3 rails and left me straight in on the 6.

6 ball: hit this center as well since it was long and i didn't want to complicate things.

8 ball: the eight should be closer to the head spot actually (oops) hit that with a bit of draw to come behind the 9

9 ball: center hit, not feeling like the best player right now :) so imma make is simple again.

i hope this clears things up, again any help would be great.

Here is an updated cue table too ( i really am no good with these)

anyways the 8 ball was originally behind the 5, which is why i had to shoot cross table. The ghost balls with arrows indicate where it stopped and i took a shot. Also for whatever reason a ghost ball didn't appear behind the six but it was located about parallet with the original position of the 4. Thanks again for any help

For starters, cuetable has a multi-page funtion. In order to illustrate a multi-ball out such as yours, you'll need to use this. This diagram is just too cluttered

Secondly, there are paths that just don't make sense unless you're trying to illustrate a bend. Use the shift button when drawing lines and the line will bend every time you left-click your mouse.

Thirdly, it's best to ask questions about a specific shot or a specific sequence (ie., the last 4 balls) instead of showing the entire rack. Reduces clutter.

Lastly, always try to take a screenshot and post the gif on the thread. It makes for easier reference and frankly, that cuetable program is a little tough for some computers.

With that said, you can't cross-bank the 5-ball if it's frozen to the rail. That's just impossible. If you were near-straight on the 8-ball, the correct play would have been a stop-shot, leaving you dead-straight on the 9-ball in the corner-pocket.

Here's how I would have done it...

You could have made life a lot easier if you got a good angle on the 2 (easy to do) and bumped the 5 out into the open. You're rolling the dice a little bit this way, but the probablility of getting out this way is WAY better than leaving the 5 there and making a crazy cross-bank on it or trying to get perfect position for three-rail position on the 6 (with only a few inches of target area both times).

BTW, its a lot easier for your readers if you use the paging feature of cuetable like I did.

Thanks for all the advice (cue table especially!) i remade it with my route. I like the idea of bumping the 2. I really don't have much skill as far as seeing shots like that (using other balls to move problem balls) so that helped a lot. Would stopping at the 8 be a better shot? Only because getting position behind the nine left me with a lot of room for error and the side pockets can be mean to me at times :)

Smart, thanks i like that option a lot better too. Just don't see those shots sometimes :)

Thanks for the great suggestions. Other than the look outside, I have overhauled the engine under the hood and I haven't heard of CPU issues ever since. However, I would recommend not to have over 5 CueTable open at the same time :)

To take a screen shot, check CueTable HowTo #8: Imaging and Printing

mosconiac's solution #1 of using the 2 to bump the 5 is great!
In his solution#2 of banking the 5 three rails is also excellent. Even though it looks to go short, still an good safety.

I would take the cue with follow and hit the combo 1 to 9 for the sharp break into the opposite side corner. It is a risky shot but you will not get the double kiss and if missed they are left without a shot. It is a different look but I think it is a good one.
