I have never had the oppertunity to refinish a Schuler cue. I have refinished hundreds of cues, but never one of these. The owner of this Schuler tells me that the aluminum sleeve, at the joint is held in place by a rubber "O" ring (not glued). Is this true & if so how do you recommend that I treat this sleeve, when sanding & spraying? Please don't offer an opinion, unless you KNOW the answer. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE...JER

Jerry, I have not worked on them, so can't offer any advice there, But I have heard of this o-ring before, and It seems like there was a previous thread about them, although It also seems like it has been a long time since I read It, and I have no idea what search phrase Might bring the thread up. It might be worth looking for though.

There may be a variety of answers here due to the many different elements that he experimented with.
I will tell you this and it's not opinion because I've worked on a couple of Schuler cues.
I have a removed Schuler joint in the shop that is triple sleeved with a metal collar.
It's very solid, there is no movement. I've never honestly known of an 'O' ring used there.
I can't come up with a good reason why one would be used there either.
Now if this person is inadvertently describing the other end of the cue, Mr Schuler is very well known
for securing the bumper with an expanding 'O' ring system.

O rings
Al Romero has made cues with an O ring in the joint...I can't remember where in the joint or how it all worked. As I recall though, it was kind of a "hinge in the middle" type arrangement (really). He let me hit balls with it years ago. Perhaps one of the SoCal members has seen it.
