Help with thoughts about unknown pool cue? Thanks.

Just used AI to search 'North Kanto pool cues' and i got some rambling shit about mythical northern Japan, nomes, and some weird-ass samurai warrior shit. To be honest it made about as much sense as ol Justin used to. ;)
Don't use AI.

Honestly AI sucks. It's like asking a psychotic 5 year old.

Try Haku Custom Cues.

Yeah, I know, probably not.

There have been cues for sale on AZB from that region. Nice cues. If early work, this could be the same maker...maybe...I guess...
Its just a region, could be any number of makers i guess. The Ebay ad said nothing about a specific builder. NO way i'd give 1700 for some unknown Japanese cue.

I agree.

If it really is such a prominent maker, I see no reason why they would not name him. That alone would be suspicious.

I have fun researching unknowns. I love nailing them down and especially when I pay small money. No way I would consider such a purchase as this. I am not even chasing the research. I put about a minute into it. I have spent a lot more time responding in this thread than the time I spent on the cue itself. 🤪 :ROFLMAO:

Maybe with respect to the cue makers much higher quality current work? I had an 8 Point Carmeli cue, which was a very early Carmeli, and a cue that Carmeli himself probably would not want anyone seeing or knowing about, due to the uneven points that it had. Everyone that I asked about the cue said, there is no way that is a Carmeli, and that it looked like a POS. Then Carmeli emails me to confirm that he made it, and I found the very faint signature that was in the dark wood, with dark ink, and everyone was probably shocked that it was Carmeli's work.

Point being, a lot of cue makers probably want their early work forgotten about, or to remain unknown.

That seller said the ID is confirmed. He's selling a used cue. No reason to claim all that without claiming the name.

And he said it's a Japanese maker.

I have an 8 points Carmeli, amazing player, used to be my main player.
I got it here on AZB years ago for cheap as it was in user condition and there is a blemish in the forearm wood between the points.
The points are even and the signature is between the points.
I love this cue, I had a 314-2 shaft matched to it and now I have cf shafts for it as well.

Sorry for hijacking the thread

It was actually the Recuts that were not perfectly inline with each other, which I did not even notice, until someone mentioned it.

It was a 16 Point Carmeli, with 8 High / Low points going up, and the same going down, with Recuts. I can't imagine it is easy to get everything perfectly even.

It was a super nice cues, and I loved the way it played.

Was thinking exact same thing. Justin386 still around????
Does Nick love the wedge?

I started noticing that the writing style, the post's scenarios, and endless questions about cues and their values felt uncomfortably familiar. Like, have you ever been camping and you're trying to go to sleep in your tent but a mosquito keeps buzzing your ear? You keep swinging and swatting at it and it finally stops. Then Alexandra Daddario is leaning in to tell you how irresistible she thinks you are and "BZZZZZ.... BZZZZZZZZZZZZZ... BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!" It's back.
