Help with thoughts on the cue maker of an unknown Jump / Break pool cue?

Long shot, but curious if anything about this cue appears to be anything similar to the work of any specific cue maker out there?

It has a Faded signature, with an 07 next to it.

Thanks for any thoughts.

The "y" on the end immediately made me think of Jeff Olney. But I was actually able to find a cue with his signature from '07 and the 7 doesn't match. I suppose it could still be one of his but I wouldn't bank on it. Might be worth asking him, though.

That is unique the way he does the y at the end, with the rest being Capital letters. That is cool. I assume he probably would have never used that ringwork either. I have seen a few of his cues, and he always uses that style of ringwork, right? I guess it would be worth a try to ask him though. Thanks for your reply.

If you Google his cues and check images you'll see he's used all different kinds of rings over the years. I haven't seen any of his cues that have the same ringwork as the cue in your post. But that doesn't mean he hasn't done it. The cue appears to be well build with nice wood. The handle is a particularly nice piece of curly maple.

Considering the original signature is mostly gone, I'd say this has been refinished at least once before. And it probably wasn't done by someone anyone here would recommend. It's also at a point where it could use another one to fix the dings and runs in its current finish. But if I were buying it to play, I'd just leave it as is.

Thanks a lot. I understand. I might email Olney, just to ask him. That is a really unique y on the end of his name, so maybe he did make it. Thanks again.

Might as well. You'd only be out the amount of time it takes you to send the email. If it is his, you end up with it, and decide to have it refinished, have him do it so he can add his name back to it.
