Help with very very old Predator butt............

Hello all. I have a buddy with a few old school Predator cues. The first is a first edition
Predator. I believe that these were made by Joss or maybe Falcon. The second looks
just like the first except that there is no logo on the butt. There is just " 314 " right
above the linen wrap. Otherwise, it looks just like the Predator first edition. I was just
wondering if this butt was some sort of special edition, or something like that. I've never
seen one like it. Both butts could use a refinish. He told me that he ordered them from
Predator when they first started. If anyone has any information on this cue, could they
please share?

Not special editions, just super early. Go google "predator retired cues" and you should see them there.

Yes, I did check on the Predator retired cues. The earliest models ( 314-1 thru 314-6 made in 1996 )
did in fact have the Prdedator First Edition on the butt section. It's just that I've never seen one that
had the " 314 " above the wrap with nothing on the butt. I didn't know if it was maybe a prototype
or a limited first run or something like that that were made before the " First Edition " cues.

I'm almost positive that the first butts were made by Falcon in Canada. Then maybe
Joss after that, but not positive. I'm pretty sure that both cues in the pics were made
by Falcon. I'm also pretty sure that the butt with the " 314 " above the wrap was made
before the " First Edition " butt, but I'm not positive there either. I was just hoping an
AZ'er here would have the scoop.

Do the cues have the original shafts? If so, do they have a logo on them, should be 314 if any but more than likely they shouldnt say anything and they should still have the long ferrule. The one butt having the 314 on it is strange indeed. I just posted a picture of a 96' model cue I had in the thread about 314 and 314-2 shafts. Mine had the same buttcap that said 1st Edition.

Yes, both cues have original shafts. I have the " First Edition " cue. He handed me over a
shaft with it, and it has the 1" ferrule and the 12 piece pie lamination. It does not have any
logo on it at all. Now, it might be the shaft that went with the " 314 " butt, but I'm not sure.
He did tell me that the cues were never refinished, so the shafts came without any logo on
them at all. The other shaft does not have a logo either. He still has that shaft along with
the " 314 " butt. I didn't check to see how many pie pieces that shaft had. I did get a pre-
cat shaft with a silver ring too. He said that he picked that one up later on. It does have
the " 314 " logo by the collar, and only 10 lamination pie pieces. It also has the 1" ferrule.

Just a bump to see if anyone can chime in here. We're curious as to when and where
these very early cues were made.
