Can anyone recommend a group of drills to work on that would help me improve? I am dedicating 1 1/2 hour a night. My current skill level is an apa 6 in nine and 8 ball.

There are a ton out there and several threads on the forum about this topic, just search and you should find a bunch of info.

Personally I like the PAT-based drills, which can be done by skill level so become harder as you improve. You would probably start with Level 1 drills, maybe some Level 2's as well, then add balls/difficulty as you progress. There are several Youtube vids of these drills as well, just search for PAT and billiards.

Also some good drill DVD's/books out there - Joe Tucker, Bert Kinister Workouts, Bob Henning, etc.

Personally when doing drills I like a decent degree of difficulty and to work on something specific - shotmaking, concentration, rack planning or patterns, or frequently used position routes. Again, search on the forum or google and you'll find a ton of good suggestions with diagrams, pick through the ones you like and leave the ones you don't. I collected all of them into a binder and just went through a core sample each time and added a few new ones in for variety.

Maybe I can help a neighbor.

What part of your game do you want to improve?
There are the PHYSICAL-MENTAL-PHYSIOLOGICAL parts of the game. Maybe all of them.
Maybe the three Pre-shot Routines?

Here are some free ones:
Basic drills for 5 skill levels
Columns, many of which have drills
Dr. Dave's collection of drill threads
Dr. Dave and I have produced a set of DVDs that covers about 150 different drills for all levels of players. Example clips are listed in this thread.

The first hard part is figuring out what you need to work on. You can do this by noting your mistakes in competition, but that's hard to do in the heat of battle. Make a note of your mistake as soon as you sit down. Alternatively, note what you stumble over during run-out practice.

Next, figure out a drill that will help with that particular problem. I recommend that you base your home-made drills on the ideas in the first link above.

If you can video tape yourself, try a self-analysis of your fundamentals. That's hard, and if you are not satisfied with your consistency and mechanics you may need to find a good instructor. Be sure to get one who does video analysis of fundamentals.
