That's why snooker players don't leave their chalk on the rail.
I think that's actually a legal shot (if slop counts).

So I'm guessing if the ball touches formica that would be loss of game (or worse)? At snooker and pool such a shot is legal as long as it doesn't hit something on the rail, like chalk. As carom billiards, it is a foul for the ball to touch wood, but bouncing on the top of the cushion or rolling along it is OK.

If it's on the rail, yes. From the current rules on the WPA website:If it hits a magic rack is that a foul?
If it's on the rail, yes. From the current rules on the WPA website:
6.16 Ball Rack Template Foul
It is a foul when a Ball Rack Template, removed from the playing surface, interferes with the game i.e. if the template is lying on the rail and a ball (cue or object ball) touches the template that is lying on the rail.
What ?? I meant to do that.. what's the big deal ?![]()
Anybody notice that in the video you can see about two thirds of the table and the only
other ball visible is the blue ball?
....the other balls, at least five, must be clustered a bit.
I saw a guy at Boulder Billiards in Tulsa makes this exact shot ON PURPOSE to make the out-hole in a golf game. One guy was cozy'd up in the six-hole and Randy(owner) made this shot to get the $$$. If i hadn't seen it i probably wouldn't have believed it possible.
PT:
I think he just potted the brown ball, not a red. So, it's possible that the only remaining balls are the blue, pink and black with the latter two being out of view.

Here is a video of the shot. I suspect that particularly galling to his opponent (Nigel Bond) was the position on the blue.Thanx, Roger....I took a second look, it is indeed the brown ball.
...and I don’t have the excuse of mild color blindness....I’m just an idiot....![]()
It was definitely a desperation shot no doubt. Guy in the out-hole was probably gonna win so Randy just basically gave it the "why not-f^*k it" stroke and made it. Looked exactly like the shot in the clip. They were using pool balls and i don't know if that made it any more/less crazy but it sure jarred all us sweaters for sure. You witnessed the greatest shot of all time btw
