Here are 3 neo-titlist forearms in african ebony, bolivian purpleheart, and amazon rosewood. They will be soon be completed "Herman J. Carmeli" Hoppe style (1940's) tribute cues. The cues will have ivory rear ring, smooth black wrap, and brass joint collar. Of course the joint will be 3/8-10 flat face with nice premium maple shafts (Carmeli has good shaftwood).

these look real nice. i'd love to see some with super clear straight grain maple fronts also. clear straight grain maple has always been my fav. for traditional cues.

Does Herman Rambow use 3/8-10 flat face on his titlist? I thought they were normally 5/16-14 on his titlist.

These cues are being made by Ariel "Herman J." Carmeli. He mostly uses flat-face 3/8-10 pin. I don't think the 3/8-10 was available to Herman Rambow or he might have used them to make his cues play better. I reverently doff my cap to Rambow for his many years of service in crafting some of the nicest cues available in his era.

Very nice...although they would be better "tributes" if the points were deeper and closer to touching at the base.

Oh and is that last forearm cored with ebony? If so I think I might like it...

Thanks for the input Roger...no cores in any of these, just good hard birdseye maple. Getting the points to come closer together is desireable but adds more difficulty to our process. To get the points any closer, maybe we'd need to consult with that master cuemaker you're so fond of.:D  :D

Yes it is difficult, but you can probably charge significantly more if they're as close as I like to see them.

But! very nice prongs nonetheless, def a much higher quality than your competition.

No, but the 3/8-12 and 3/8 acme was and must be the lathe wasn't as accurate for facing. :) As far as playing better 3/8 vs 5/16.. sounds like an old urban legend if you ask me... :p

Nice points though...

Love the veneer color Martin, very tasteful.

What I like best though....is the name you gave them....NEO-TITLIST. Awesome!! From hence forth I think all Titlist tributes should be called this he, he!

Thanks for the comments guys. We gotta have a little fun around here! The forearms pictured will be finished cues in about 3 weeks. Shafts are already waiting. These tribute BEM forearms are cored with laminated maple. It's an extra step (with extra cost) that Carmeli takes that contributes to better consistency of hit between cues and also helps the butt stay straight.

It's ironic that you would mention that. I heard that when Rambow was scouring the bars for good 1-piece Titlists to make his cues from, he tossed aside the birdseye maple forearms because it was considered 'flawed' - he only wanted the straight-grain.

I get your point here guys. I'm obsessed with figured BEM and hard curly though. Would only do a straight grained maple titlist style on an order. The idea here is to recreate the Rambow/ Hoppe look but update it a bit. This group is in final stages of completion, BTW. Should be ready to go in a week. I'll get an in progress photo of the cues this weekend if I can.

I believe Rambow used mostly oversized unfinished Titlist blanks that he bought directly from brunswick, as the butts of his cues. This was he was able to control the tapers, weights, balances, and thicknesses.

BTW balabushka would also only use straight grain maple forearms.

Here's a photo of the completed purpleheart Titlist tribute cue. The Amazon rosewood and ebony cue are waiting to be wrapped. The purpleheart and Amazon rosewood cues will each have 1 Predator 314-2 shaft. Ariel did a splendid job on these cues and whoever ends up with them will be real pleased with the overall quality.
