It was pretty cool to see Cicero play, I read on here he had kind of a unique style, and it was. It was kind of a see-saw stroke. Unfortunately they cut a 150 point match into a half hour show, which was not nearly enough footage. They showed about a rack of Cicero shooting and three racks of Wimpy. Wimpy had a short stroke and had his grip hand pretty far forward.

The other unique thing was some shots of Cicero taking a drag off a unfiltered cigarette. Also, the pre-match interviews were real short and neither said much of anything. The crowd was huge and Alfred DeOro (I think that's who they said) was in the front row and actually stood up to check out a shot Wimpy had. I wish I would've recorded it, hopefully it gets re-shown.

I recorded it somewhere on VHS awhile back,there is also Jersey Red in that crowd among others with Dottie.

It was Onofrio Lauri (June 28, 1896 - April 11, 1971). Alfredo DeOro, born on April 28, 1863 was already dead (April 23, 1948).

How about that table roll in the Lassiter vs. Fats match?!! I was really surprised there was hardly any complaining by the players.

Fats was a riot though wasn't he? lol

Doh! Well, they kinda sound similar I looked at DeOro's picture on the BCA Hall of Fame and didn't think it looked like the guy who stood up.

I was impressed with how smooth Cicero Murphy's stroke was. He had that pause at the back, but man his final stroke was like liquid. I would have liked to see him take more than a handful of shots.

Fats was funny in that second match, but I think my favorite moments of the day were when the commentators of the Wimpy vs. Cicero match were talking about "those of you with color TV sets...." And, "if I had billions of dollars, I'd buy everyone a color television" (paraphrasing)

Somehow I just don't see Mitch Lawerence ever saying those words.
