I talked to Glen a few months ago and he told me about this new HHR Simonis cloth. I was hesitant about it and did not know much about it. I have heard good reviews about it and asked my supplier about it and he said it was not new. Simonis had just renamed it. What do you guys know about this? Ron:shrug:

Ron, I've used the 860 HR many times with excellent results. According to Felice, at Simonis, It's a 760 blend (70% wool 30% nylon) with a different finishing process. HR plays a little faster than 860 and a little slower than 760.

In my conversation with Felice she told me the "HR" stood for humidity resistant. I can't speak to whether or not that characteristic is better than with other fabrics, but I can say for sure that it plays great, wears better than regular 860 and shows ball marks less. Therefore I try to recommend it to all my commercial customers.

Try it you'll love it...:D

Is it just a name change? Is it the same cloth?
The shaving process of the exposed fiber ends has been changed compared to normal 860. By not shaving the cloth as close to the threads, it leaves more wool on the surface of the cloth to help protect the nylon from showing the ball burnish markings that are normal with Simonis cloths.

The 860HR has been in use in Europe for about the last 20 years or so, BUT the change in the shaving process is new. Simonis and I worked out the problems together, of the ball burnishing problems that are what I don't care for on bar tables. It's more of a bar table cloth now than a 9ft cloth, as it's more designed to take the abuse of bar players and that kind of environment, as opposed to a pool room, in which for the most part, the tables are not nearly as abused. Don't get me wrong though, I still install the 860HR on 9fts as well:D
