Hi everyone....how's your spring going?

I havn't been here for a while posting. I HAVE been golfing like a mental patient, and learning how to build golf clubs.......which is WAY easier then cues, which I have worked on for 15 years.

Funny thing about golf clubs vs cues is everyone wants to have the newest longest clubs while older clubs are cheap on Ebay! I play with Ben Hogan Apex blades from the 70's that I bought for $75 :)....which I guess is like playing with maybe an old Joss or Black Boar you just bought for $300! :)

Another funny thing is golf forums are EXACTLY like this one. fights about players, equipment, theory on playing.....too funny, but almost no talk about gamblling....HA!

Anyway, just wanted to say hey to you all.....

Thanks for dropping in! You sir, must be a "glutton for punishment" with the hobbies/sports you choose. Can there be any two sports more frustrating than golf/billiards???

Spring is good here Gerry, thanks.
I dropped out of golf at the end of last spring to begin playing One Pocket again, and you are absolutlely right about the comparable nuances of the two games. Seems like the only big difference between them is one is played in the light while the other is played in the dark, and there's no juke box on the golf course. :)

Howdy. Funny about forums, it gets like that all over, even video games etc. Forums are a great way to study human nature. Pity about quitting cues for clubs :) I thought it might be harder if you want one of those super scientifically accurate clubs that are modelled by computers to get the best possible face angle and grooves etc. Plus working in metal would be harder than wood I'd think though you don't have to put up with treating it carefully.

I sure never looked at a golf club and said "wow, that's pretty."

good point, but I have a soft spot for well engineered anything.....I think with golf clubs you hit a shot and THEN you realize the genius of the club maker.

although.....these beauties have a certain elegance to them :)

when you hit them on the sweet spot there is no finer feeling in golf.....when you hit them off center....your hands buzz and you know what you have done wrong. thats the difference between new school clubs and oldies....off center hits on newer clubs dont let you know what you are doing wrong.

....no I didnt pay $800 for mine :)
