Haven't seen you post in awhile :( ... is everything o.k.w/yah? Hope you're still dabbin' it gr8 and gettin' it done!!! ;)

This my 1st time on "your" forum and I've got to say you have to be one of the most sincerely sweet, humble and warm hearted people (and Pro Pool Player) I've ever read on AZ!!! :)

Sorry if i'm laying it on heavy (don't mean to), but I totally feel that way about your character. You seem to always keep it real and be very polite, well spoken, smart, professional and kewel!!! I've never had the opp. to see you play yet :( (I'm in Cali.), however I did get to see your t.v. interview and a little of your stroke! Hope you don't mind comparisons but Allison Fisher/Mike Sigel came to mind when I saw your stroke mechanics and stance!!! WOW: P-E-R-F-E-C-T, B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L "&" S-O-L-I-D!!!!! Also, what you said re: keeping your diabetes a secret because you didn't want it to be used an excuse floored and impressed me!!!

I truly respect and admire you livin' the dream too!!! You remind me so much of a former Olympic Champion (in "another" esoteric sport) and she was also an awesome person, but that's another story!!!

It can be quite intimidating with a some of the Pro guys and Pro gals, to walk up and say hi, or ask them questions ('specially dumb ones!). Some are more "approachable" than others and you seem to have that quality and aura about you. If the opp. ever presents itself I'll be sure to say hello!!! Take care of yourself, win some for the "AZ" crowd, and keep knockin' e'm down!!! :)

A New Fan!!!
F8it (still too shy/scared to "reveal" myself)

P.S.

It really kills me no one has - recently - asked you questions about your technique, tricks of the trade, and the rigors of travellin', tournament life, etc.. I'm going to take advantage and change that soon though!!! :p

Sincerely and Respectfully!!!

F8it,

Thanks for giving me something to respond to. It has been a little dead lately since there aren't any tournaments going on or anything. Everything is going great, thank you for your concern.

Thank you for your kind words and comparison to two champions. I hope to be as great as Allison and Mike Sigel one day. We have a tournament in California every year. I'm not sure if you are close to the San Diego area, but that is where it is held.

I try to be very approachable so definitely be sure to say hello. There is no reason to be shy. I am just a normal person....even though I think some people will beg to differ on that one. :)

If you have any questions definitely be sure to ask. I try to respond quickly and honestly no matter what the question.

Thanks again,
Sarah

No... THANK YOU SARAH!!!

What a privilege and honor it is to receive a very nice reply from you!!! I'm typeless!!! Lol!!!

YUP, things do look a little sparse on the WPBA 'cept for Oct. and Nov.. The summer mo's going into fall can be real dead zone's for pool in general. Same thing and understandably (Fun In The Sun) down here in So. CA.. Business dies off and picks up again in fall/winter.

Were there any "satellite" tourneys you entered during the "hiatus"? I hope there were some you could "legally" play in. Also, in the interim what have you been doing with your time? I know it's been what only 2 mo's or so off, but how/what are you practicing to keep sharp? Are you working out, matching up, going on the road? Hope I'm not intruding into your private life but I'm only curious. Sorry for so many questions!!!!

Well... I'm certainly not one to boast but I in this case I have to: I do have a great eye and ear for talent and I say: You've Got IT!!! When I made those comparisons with you and the great players I wasn't sugar coating insincere, empty compliments!!! There's no doubt whatsoever you can/will get to the very top echelon. Your mechanics (I forgot to ad: S-M-O-O-T-H) and talent are there, you have a strong mental game, desire, and the heart of a lion(ess)!!! Nothing else is needed 'cept some luck and a few good rolls here and there!!! You may even be far better than you allow yourself to think, which is a rare thing!!! SCARY!!!

Oh, and what you did in your first years on tour to now is really totally awesome!!! You're well on your way!!! Like the old saying: "Just work hard, have faith, believe, and things will take care of themselves!"

Judging by your new avatar, It looks like you have a sponsor or 2 (or more) too!!! Congratulations!!! That must be a great, encouraging sign when you've got businesses who want to invest in your talents!!! Take that as yet another very positive affirmation!!!

Well, I can go on forever but I don't want to strain your eyes and give you an excuse to dog it!!! I'll try to come out and watch you play in S.D. next season. I'm 'bout 2 or 3 hrs. away but it'd be worth it just to meet yah!!! Take care, keep the flame burnin and most of all keep havin' fun!!! Think what most of us would give to do what you're doin'! We're behind yah' all the way!!!!!

Sincerely and Respectfully!!!!,

F8it

P.S. I'll try to focus more on specific questions next time!!! I'm just a little star struck right now!!! :p

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to this thread.

Dan, it was good to see you as well. I didn't really get in much action. I was trying though. That was a good tournament and I hope to come back next year and actually play in the tournament.

F8it...Things are very dead for the WPBA right now. We have a couple breaks a year like that. Sometimes a break is needed. In my time off I have been on the road. I was out for about a month. There aren't many tournaments in my area so I decided to go with some friends and hit the road. It was a pretty fun experience. When I'm not on the road I am usually practicing and getting in games around my area.

Thank you again for your kind words. I really don't know what to say in reply besides thank you.

Take care,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,

What exactly does this entail? It doesn't seem like time off, it seems like going on the road to 'hustle' for money to make ends meet? That seems like working. Or are you just having fun? Do you have any income to supplement tournament winnings/sponsors? I'd like to understand the pro player's lifestyle. I mean many of us have a regular job and play at weekends, and don't have an appreciation of how difficult things must be making a living out of this sport.

Best regards.

Hobokenpa,

By time off I meant time from the WPBA tournaments. You are right, out traveling to different pool rooms and different towns is work. It is enjoyable though because it is something that I have always wanted to do. I don't have an income besides pool to support me so we had to make money. Expenses were quite heavy as well. You have to make money each day just to cover that days expenses. Also, to clear things up there was no hustling. It was just gambling in pool rooms with pool players, not just random, helpless people. It is very difficult to make a living playing this sport. Luckily there are alot of tournaments around the U.S. to travel to. It is easy to plan a trip around a group of tournaments in the same region.

I hope that helps a little bit.

Chattanooga

Hi Sarah

It was definitely a pleasure meeting you at Diamond Billiard Club in Chattanooga. I enjoyed the short chat and I like your game. The best to you.

Thank you Bob. I had a good time in Chattanooga. As you probably noticed we spent alot of time there. Hopefully I can make it back again sometime in the future. That monthly tournament is great.

Take care,

Hi Sarah!!!,

Thx so much for the reply! I guess "livin' the dream" can be a nightmare at times. Lol! It's gr8 you have friends to travel with... I've often fantasized about doin' that myself but most of my friends are either married with kids, live out of state, and don't play! :(

I remember talkin' to a young woman in a local pool room and she said she hit the road (up to San Francisco) for 1 full year - by herself!!! She was 21 or 22 at the time and decided "what the heck?". She took out the front passenger seat of her car so she could sleep in that area, and made a go of it. She said she did quite well and her christened nickname was "Coyote", because she was like a lone wolf! That took a lot of balls so to speak. I know couldn't do that! She doesn't play anymore though which is sad... she has a lot of talent and potential.

Well... I sincerely hope things go great for you until the next tour stop, and that you make a BIG score!!! I've got some more questions but I'll leave that for later. If you haven't noticed I have the tendency to write too much!!! Funny, in person I'm the opposite! Take care of yourself and keep dabbin' it!!!

Best regards and wishes!!!,

F8it

F8it...you are right living the dream can be a good thing or a bad thing. I can't complain though, it has mostly been good for me...so far. Life jumps in the way and priorities change people. Someday my priorities will change, but I will be happy to have experienced all that I have.

I'm not sure who you are talking about, but that is a brave thing to do going out alone. I wouldn't be able to do that.

Feel free to ask as many questions as you want. I really don't mind at all. It gives me something to occupy my time.

Take care,
Sarah

Alright, fine, you guys busted me....I'm not all that normal...but thats okay isn't it? But I guess normal is in the eye of the beholder?

Thanks again Sarah!!! Yes, you are taking a once in a lifetime shot at what you love and that's the most important thing. It's wonderful that you're still very young and have time to achieve your ultimate goals and dreams. Although just getting there would be enough for many!

Yeah... life does get in the way and changes your outlook and perspective on things. Staying on track is key but many of us stray off of it and never get back. :(

The young woman I was talking about is no one you would know, but I can tell you she is a totally free spirit, very independent and likes to do things her way. I think there's perhaps a little bit of you in there too. ;)

Hmmm questions... Here we go... Well... to keep things a little fun I was wondering what kind of goodies you keep inside of your cue case pouch! Hope no one asked you this before... what kind (brand, make, model) of tip maintenance tools and stuff do you use or prefer? Oh and tips too!!! I think Inside Pool Magazine did features of pro players and all the equipment they used. Btw, I saw your pics of your beautiful cue and case!!! Totally awesome!!!

Also, other "tools of the trade" I'm wondering about are little tid bits of info., technique(s) , advice, etc, - if any - you picked up from the "grizzled" veterans on tour. Perhaps you already knew everything there was to know, but I'm sure you must've received some sagely advice/insight after playing in Pro Tourneys as opposed to amateur events. No... "Keep your head down and don't miss" don't count as answers! :p

Another thing I am interested is how you handle your dietary needs? Again, I hope I'm getting too personal with these questions... I'm sure there are other players out there that have the same condition and could benefit from the info. you provide. Do you bring/buy your own "supplies" and prepare your own meals, or do just take extra care when eating out or ordering room service?

Well.. I hope these questions can occupy your time a little and not too much!!! I'll be sure to keep them coming if it's still o.k. with you. Hope to hear from yah soon. Take - very good - care!!!

Sincerely as ever!!!,

F8it
