High Inside or Low Outside for Position?

I know it depends on the situation and whether your cue ball positioning path may be obstructed by other balls, but sometimes we are faced with a positioning option (particularly with your object ball close to a side cushion) of using high inside spin to pocket your ball and come around 2 or 3 cushions back up the table vs using low outside to bring the cue ball off the cushion and back up the table.

I’m assuming the low outside seems the simplest and preferred choice for most players, but I believe I’m among the small percentage of players that often chooses the high inside option. I just seem to be more comfortable pocketing the shot as well as more comfortable with my cue ball speed control using the high inside, even if the cue ball does have to travel farther.

I’m guessing it has something to do with my stroke and that I’ve always been more comfortable with a power follow stroke than I am with a power draw stroke. I’m curious as to opinions / preferences of others?

Use the correct english that will get you the optimal position.
One is always better than the other.
High or low doesn't matter to me.
One is correct and the other is not.
That is the only info I need to make the decision.

There are plenty of shots where you could argue that either way is correct. In those cases, play what you're comfortable and consistent with.

Plenty of variables to consider, but I tend to agree with going three rails. I'm far more comfortable with that route.

Depends how exact you like your shape.
If you are going for an area then yes.

Ya wanna play some?
You got my nostrils flaring.😉
You pick the table, I pick the game.
The stakes are negotiable. Don't name a number that you aren't ready to double.😉
An FYI.
From the table difficulty thread.
gregcantrall - 10', 4", 5/8", 1 1/2" - 1.31 (10' Diamond)
My table in Sun City West that was traded out for a 9' Diamond. Nobody wanted a piece of me on that table. Not even, "The Hale Storm". 😉🤷😁 Can't find the middle finger emoji.🤷

So crazy this exact shot came up today. I always use high inside also, I questioned it to try perfect position (for break shot/14.1. I hit it with low outside the result was great I think this is my new and improved way to hit this shot IMHO

I prefer low outside but think the pro way is high inside.

Without using the end rail, the side pockets come into play, as does the fact that the 2nd rail contact is with reverse English.

One option that has not been discussed is low inside. That's always a thriller... for varying reasons.

Well that's problem number one...get off the kiddy box.
Whew!.... Can't let it go.
You Talkin To Me?
I gotta problem?
No! You Gotta Problem!
Uh Hello
Ok well I did get in a Kitty litter box once. But but I didn't know.

No shame in not understanding something you have never been exposed to.
Caution is phase one....on Tequila.,.to the wind. Live and play hard. The good news is I don't feel the face plant until the next morning.
Ya' Wanna play some?

You pick table I pick game, You open on stakes. I raise.
Sounds like a fun game to me.
I guess stakes would include duration. One for all the money is my vote. Flipping for first.

If I'm shooting a ball near a rail, say cue ball in center of table object ball near second diamond of side rail, low inside and high outside both send the ball close to perpendicular to the rail for me but low inside seems to kill more momentum.

Obviously the situation depends on the details, but assuming you have a shot that could be struck either way I go high inside.

The pros use the low outside much more. This isn't because it's a better shot. It's because they are playing on slick, new cloth. New cloth makes it easier to keep a sliding cue ball on the stun shot and makes it harder for the spin to grab on the rolling inside shot. Watch them switch to worn cloth and they start going high inside more often as well.
