Eric Hjorliefson has now eliiminated both Alex Pagulayan and Johnny Archer. Can anyone offer some information about him? I'm rather puzzled by the fact that a guy I've never heard of could knock out two different world champions in one US Open. Just to top it off, he then eliminated Buddy Hall. Wow!

SJM..

I think he is from the Minnesota area but I don't know much about him either...

You may want to try posting a question on mnbilliards.com, I am sure someone there can tell you about him as I have seen messages about him there.

He is/was from Winnepeg. He is Canadian. He won the Northern Lights tourney afew years ago which was a brutal feild and he was pretty young. He always shot really well, now it seems he is getting even better. He has beaten Archer, Pagulayan, and now Hall as well. He was gonna make a showing in these pro events, it was only a matter of time.

eric is from winnipeg

i play with him every time he goes to a small tourney in kenora, he's a about 6foot 5 red hair. he and jason klatt, and another named felix beardy, travel together, they play a lot of casino tourney's in minnesota, wisocnsin and the dakota's. he and felix usually win most of them, however i was in vegas in the spring for the bca, and vnea, and they didn't even place in the money. my dad plays them for money everytime their in town, and he took eric for a 150 bucks, even tho that ain't much. he likes to go the the thunder bay 9 ball in the fall too, he also recently got 2nd in the canadian 9 ball championships, falling to alain martel in the finals

chevejo,

Welcome to AZ!! Your comment misses the point. Eight ball and nine ball are two completely different games. Some great nine ball players appear to have trouble understanding BCA safety play and lose to weaker opponents. Most nine ball events are winner breaks. Eight ball is alternate break. Much tougher to steamroller an opponent. The bar box is also a great equalizer.

This US 9-ball Open is great- Every champion has been rolled over by shortstops whom in turn will become a champion themselvs!
