Hmmm What to do What to do

Dear Robin:

I have always been enjoying the entertainments you provided at various shows in the past. You really have the personality to demonstrate things well, in a warm and non-intimating manner.

I think you should try doing a demo videos and teaching people how to jump, especially female players and junior players. This will help people to learn more about you and understand your products better.

Here is an video example by Tom Simpson, a great billiard instructor and writer:

On a side note, please check out CueTable Demo Video which we just made: http://talk.cuetable.com/DemoVideo.php

I have been toying with the idea for my message board on my website for the kids.

Yes we will be there, we started our Raffle for the Gold Crown V early this year... will have tickets there too. We always do the Gold Crown Raffle at the BCA event but the way the things are going I thought it best to get a head start on ticket sells. How beautiful is this table! I have the IV even though I don't play anymore I don't have the heart to lose the table http://www.robindodson.com/Brunswick_Raffle.htm

I still have a few floaters, I need phone numbers. I responded to every ticket sold so if you did not hear from me look in your spam, I am there. And shoot over your phone number so I can put it on your ticket.

Thank you

Westminster Family Billiards

I went early before it opened, when I was leaving the owner pulled up. I introduced myself he asked if I would like to go in and of course I did.
We talked but he did not seem at all interested in selling it....the room had the same tables from when I was a kid. The room would need an over haul, but oh well.....next. I still like the idea of sticking with what I know.

Those tables were old AMFs I think, modern style with drop pockets.

I was shooting pool in the 80s at Linbrook and the cue ball flew off the table on a break and almost hit a toddler walking around that had gotten away from his parents. Really made me wonder at what age children should be able to be in pool rooms.

Good luck to you Robin. I'm sure you'll find what you want to do.

Robin, I didnt have time to read through all the pages so this may have already been said.

Times are tough right now thats for sure, so business choices must be scrutinized even harder than in times past. To venture into a new business right now would be very difficult. When times are good more than half of new businesses close within the first two years, so you can imagine the failure rate now.

I think the companies that will last through this downturn are the ones that slow down and REALLY focus on what it is they do best and what has got them this far. In a thriving economy "so so" companies were able to survive, but it wont happen in todays market.

So I would suggest you take a good and honest look at what have been your strong points. Quality of products? Pricing and Value? Customer service? Public relations? Find your strengths and make them even stronger! I think today market share is more important than profit percentage, and I have always been a percentage kind of guy LOL.

Just remember, tough times wont last forever, tough people will. Make a good solid plan, then make sure you execute it better than anyone else.

Thank you Woody, the one thing I have always been able to do is run my business out of my home. So, even though business is way down...it just means I am sitting on inventory longer that usual. And it is boring...because I LOVE to sell!!!
I am running great deals to help move it along...but it is a grind.
Thank you for your input.

Robin

Do you have dealers out there that sell for you or do you sell direct to the player? If you have dealers do you contact them regularly?

One way to beat the boredom may be to spend time contacting existing dealers and calling on new ones. Building personal friendships with your customer base is always enjoyable and time well spent.

Dealers and salespeople will tend to show the products that they have the most confidence in. Your goal is to get them showing your stuff ahead of your competitions.

I know you already know all this, just trying to keep our brains flowing in these tough times.

Since you love to sell, if you get too bored you could always come out and work at my store. But believe me flooring is not as much fun to sell as pool stuff :boring2:

I do call my customers and that is fun and sad...fun because I'm getting to know them. I've never met them but if I do one day I would be able to talk to them like I know them....that does help. Sad part is they have so little business their just trying to blow out inventory, the've sold my cues but are still not ready to pull the trigger on a buying more cues. I understand I would feel the same way.
Being here at AZ has really been a God Send....the Gold Crown V Raffle has been over the top...I might sell all the tickets here the rate of purchase is going. http://www.robindodson.com/Brunswick_Raffle.htm
I've never used Pay Pal before so when someone purchases it comes to my e-mail the first word is Notification....that word will never be the same for me....I love seeing it!! That is FUN!!!!
I think if I can find the people who have a home a Pool Table and Kids I could move my Drake Bell cues there isn't a kid alive who doesn't know him. And if they never played on their table they would be daily with his cue. http://www.robindodson.com/drake_bell_blow_out.htm
How do I find that combination? That is my question of the day :)

I had a fun day today not sure if it will go anywhere but I did contact some billiard sites online maybe I can drop ship my products. Thanks for the ideas!

I just talked to Drake looks like Paramount is going to planning on bringing Drake and Josh to the "Big Screen" let your kids know you have an inside scoop :)
Drake has 5 careers working right now....talk about living life!
Might be the boost I'm looking for to sell his cues....it would be cool if there would be another billiard scene.
