Hohmann vs. Davis?

... I got in an argument with the refs a couple of times. One time in an earlier match they had given Davis too many points. Davis had 131; Charlie made the break shot and got stuck and Davis made all thirteen. They then gave Davis 150. On the scores we were keeping, I put up 144. They told me to change it and I said no. They pointed to the other score up by the players and acted like I had to follow their lead. I told them it was wrong. Then he pointed over to the "official scorer" who had given them the 150 and I told him he was wrong, too. Charlie told them to go with our score. Anyway, the Billiard Buddy made the score keeping very easy.

Yes, I think you are referring to the sixth inning of the Davis/Williams semi-final match. That 13 ball clearance by Davis that you mentioned (taking him to 144 as you say) was the beginning of a 56-ball run by Davis that then ended with the absurdity of a time foul after he had made a break shot (run of 56) and had the balls scattered all over the table. So he was at 187 with the game on the table and had to sit down with 186 because of a time foul! Williams then ran 75 and looked like he might go all the way (which required 109), but he missed his 76th ball badly and Davis got the final 14 to win.

Steve: Thanks for the trick on the screenshots. Here is what it looks like.

At Large: That was a terrible way for Mike Davis to have to sit down with the game in hand like that. And it took away at least an hour and a half from my sleep time because of Charlie's run. Mike Davis had a bathroom break in his pocket he could have used had he thought about it. Mike took it like a man without complaining and just sat there until he got his chance.
