I saw a while ago on here someone had instructions for building a home made lathe, I tried searching and couldn't find it. does anyone have those pics and instructions

I did a post on a homemade lathe several months ago (or more). I also posted pics in the photo section. Search my threads and see if you can find it, and if it's the one you were looking for. I get a lot of good use out of my cheapo lathe when re-tipping is in order. Hope this helps you find it. I would pull it up myself, but I never have any luck whenever I use the search function.

I have been giving the little four or four and a half inch disk side grinders some thought as motors for various things. You would need a rheostat also since they are single speed but they are cheaper than dirt and have two threaded holes straight across from each other near the spindle so that the handle can be mounted for right or left handers. using both holes would make a very strong and stable straddle mount but then some adapting would have to be done from there. A friend's customer needs a multi-drill with about a dozen heads or so to drill plastic, each head spaced out about a foot apart and they want individual power heads so I am considering these motors for the project. Perhaps one of these grinders might provide a start for a mini lathe.
The Taig kits are pretty cheap especially if you don't have a shop and toys to work with already and may be the cheapest option for many. Taig will also sell loose components. I suspect Chris Hightower would also but I haven't asked him about it. I have dealt with Taig and Chris and found them both excellent to deal with.
