Just thought I'd share some photo's of my Light Project, I think it turned out pretty damned good!! Two, 2 x 4 LED Panels at 5500 Lumens apiece, it's VERY bright.. but dimmable.

What do you think?

Looks good! Will that center brace interfere with an even distribution of lighting? From viewing the picture, it doesn't look like any noticeable interference, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

That is one nive looking table light

Thanks for sharing your outstanding work on it. Love the look of it and from experience I know that it functions as good as it looks

A couple of questions:
1. how did you wire the dimmer to two panels?

2. I can't tell by looking, did you use anything below the led panels to distribute the light? I'm thinking of something like the chrome plastic grid panels for drop ceiling lights...

Thanks in advance.

Color Temp

The led panels I bought have four options for color, and the dimmer is built into the remote, you sync both panels with the remote and they are then controlled simultaneously. The panels themselves have a nice covering and need no diffuser. In fact I prefer the look to any grid I've ever seen.

Can the light be dimmed ?

Did you put in a controller so the LED light can be dimmed ?

The lighting looks like hard lighting to me .
Does the light produce shadows with hard lines.?

Really nice job, I didn't think about using my router for inlay; great idea...

My GC III has the copper accents so I went with copper tape (Amazon). The tape is adhesive and well locked down once I applied clear coat over the stain.
I used two dimmable (55w) 5000k 2x4 panels ($65 each EBay)
Light are mounted at the top of 1x8s, this directs the light downward really well... Bought a dimmer switch but it's perfect without dimming and the Home Depot grate/diffuser isn't needed but fills the area since the lights are at the top.

What panels did you buy that included a remote, or is the remote an additional unit?

Great work! Can you keep the light “white” but adjust it’s color temp from let’s say 5000K to 3000K for a softer white?

Or does the controller and light combo only allow you to pick crayon type colors like white, red, green, etc?

I couldn’t tell from the pictures of the remote on the website you linked.

Thank you.

*Edit: I found the spec sheets on your link and read through them all. "Yes" is the answer to my own question:)

I was fooling around with the LED strip lights a few years ago when the pre-made panels were still expensive. The ones I had, you could adjust the color from red to green to white and maybe even blue, I forge now. But I think there was only one "white".

Nice work as well Bca8ball.
I had bought 2 ebay panels 3 or 4 years ago and tried them bare over my table. I hated them. WAY too bright for me and hurt my eyes. When I held a grate over them (from my current brunswick home model light), they were fine. I returned to my brunswick fluorescent light because of this, and put the LED panels in storage. If I try them again, I think I'd make a light box like you did that has a provision for the grate. Or, I would buy the bare lights that Wineguy33 did, and try them temporarily over my table without a box, to see if they still bother my eyes. Maybe they have improved over the years, or, maybe I'm not such a baby anymore;)

Wineguy33:

Now that you've had these installed for a bit and have had time to play under different settings, which setting for color temp and dimmer brightness have you settled on?

Do you adjust any of the settings if you play before bedtime, to perhaps make it easier to fall asleep when done playing?

Thanks.

I didn't do the mother of pearl inlays but I followed your lead on the light.

Is there a way to attach pictures without a link to a web address?
