That a 9' table?
I had a table installed in a basement room with carpet (thick pad underneath). I was concerned table would settle, so we assembled cradle with slate and let sit for two weeks before completing. It's been over a year now and no issues of settling, etc. I'm glad to have the padded surface for playing. It's much easier on my tired old knees!

I offered to cut the carpet and padding under the feet, but the installer told me not to bother. If you have even a few hours with the slate on the frame, it will settle before the final leveling. The installer will make a final tweak to level even after the felt and rails are installed. You should be fine.
I did the same. Carpet feels nice but it's nasty.

Yes. You wouldn't believe how much I agonized over measurements before starting the build, lol.
Table is 114" long from end to end. So since the ball is on the 100" playing surface itleaves about 10" of possible stroke space if your frozen to the rail shooting straight. Worked out good!
Considering your bridge hand would need to be off the rail and floating out in space to take a 10 inch backstroke I'd say you are good
That's about what I have on one side. Every visitor looks back at the wall setting up but it really isn't even close.

I always use cheap indoor outdoor carpet and change it every couple years. Glued right to the concrete slab. And run the carpet up the walls 60” so no echo and can lean stuff on the walls without marking them up.
Or in a fancy house I have a expensive Persian carpet I bought years ago. I’ve had GC’s on it and 12’ Riley snooker table. I’ve owned that carpet for 25 years. Shows zero wear and has had a ton of pool played on it. It’s thin and sits on hardwood usually.
That’s the 2 extremes I’ve used under my tables. Never use a padded csrpet-ugh that feels horrible after playing 3 hours.
I like the cheap solution the best. With the walls done as well, the echo being eliminated is the best. And make sure the lid is flat black. That always works perfect as well. No sunlight either.

What would be the best place to buy carpet tiles? Would you suggest a dedicated flooring store or a place like Home Depot? I'm thinking about taking your suggestion. My pool room is double 3/4" plywood over 2x6" joists over a concrete slab. My flooring is interlocking vinyl slats. The floor panels are constantly shifting and the echo is loud. I want to lay the carpet tiles right over the existing floor.
As for Home Depot...ask what company they use and research them. The beauty of Home Depot is recourse if needed.
This is your best bet. When I installed my tiles I used carpet tape vs adhesive. I wanted the ability to replace them in the event they got stained or damaged. I went with 24" x 24" remnant tiles from Home Depot.
It's really hard to beat Floor and Decor on pricing,their retail pricing is very close to what we(my company) buy it for as a flooring contractor because of their incredible buying power.
We may buy a couple hundred square feet of tile at a time while they contract for 100,000's of square feet as an example.

Syn-Surf 7 system ! The playing surface is not billiard cloth. The table is a Soren Soren Sogaard. (modified carom table)
