Home Room Build Thread

In light of the other build threads (all of which look to have required substantially more labor than the room I setup), I figure maybe another Start to Finish thread would help keep the fire lit under those in the middle of their own build.

I'll start with the site work, stub-ups and foundation.

The only portions I subbed out were concrete and the actual structure. Concrete guy was jam up and the building guys steamrolled it. Five-ish month wait for structure, but once it was started it didn't take 10 hours until they completed the shell.

This project was done between January and September of 2020.

Table and final details

-Gold Crown 4
-Simonis 860HR Tourney Blue
-New Superspeed cushions
-Shipped rails off to Mark Gregory for subrails extensions, pro cut pockets and 4.5" openings
-Scott Rabon set up the table and installed the cloth. Great experience for sure, real nice guy

Have since added a Diamond ball polisher, extra case storage, cue holders, streaming setup via phone, etc. All the little stuff that you find out you'd like to have but didn't know you needed it, lol. Have no hesitation sending rails to Mark. They come back playing real damn good.

Lotta work involved for sure. Completing the interior took 4 three-day weekends and every day after work. Not that it matters for many, but the project was spurred by the passing of a good friend two February's ago. And not a day goes by I don't feel extremely lucky to have the room.

But after the 4-5 months waiting for the building, that month of finish work went quick! But damn it was hot in there for a couple weeks.

Stay motivated guys! You can absolutely accomplish goals you set. Even a little progress is moving in the right direction.

Can't wait to see runout1961 and 8cree's finished product.

AWSOME. Love it! thats a sweet table, I wanted a 4, but after 6 months of looking I found a GC3 for a price I could afford and bought it. There was a guy in Winston selling 2 used 4's, he even offered to hold one till I was ready if I told him I would take it...I just didn't know completion time frame, so I didn't. Great work!

You done put my back against the wall now man...

Lol na but for real, you've done an incredible job on that room, it's a pleasure to be able to play there!

Thanks for sharing.

I may still wait til my table gets installed to do a build thread as well. Depending on my schedule and all. We shall see

Man, I'm glad to have ya over. It's always a blast. It wouldn't be any fun if there was nobody to play against! We just gotta get some champs in there to torture us for a bit in 1-pocket!

I've loved seeing y'all's whole house come together, especially the room. Super excited for you guys!

I love it!

If you don't mind, who made your building kit, and who did you buy it from?

I just put up a 30'x40' kit, made by Olympia Steel Buildings, purchased from Steel Commander Corp.

Brad, I had a fence guy build my framework, and all I did was close it up with 4x8 sheets.
What did work out nicely was the bamboo rolls for my walls.
You can rest your cue Anywhere on any wall also, that it soaks up the ball sounds nicely, no echo.
Looking at the pro job done on this thread by nick, I would also add this.
I would put a pedestal underneath that couch to get those onlookers about 36'' off the floor, so they can also watch the games.
One thing I made sure of with my room was, no lighting in the non shooting players eyes while waiting their turn.
NO glare. Easy for me too say, thee only lighting in my room is the 4 light fixture. :)

I was also wondering, if there is much echo from your steel ceiling?

Carolina Carports was the actual company. They have mixed reviews online and I'll admit, communication was poor on their end and I was delayed two times, after taking off work to be there. That was off-putting to say the least. The installers were top notch fellas however.

I purchased the building through Alan's Factory Outlet online however. They had a badass editor that let you select everything from color to roof style. Then they called to confirm each option before the down payment was made. They beat everyone's price by at least $500 for the same exact building to spec.

Then paid the rest upon delivery and install. Oddly enough, it only saves $500 to install it yourself. No chance of me doing that.

On the echo, I don't notice anything unless you plaster a rack of 8-ball. Filling the room up with furniture and such helps as well. I bought as good of insulation with sound deadener as I could fit in the wall also. Prior to the insulation it sounded like a tin can lol.

Nice! How do you like the Mr Cool mini split?
Works great so far. Wasnt the least expensive option (Pioneer was at the time) but had great reviews. Pretty easy to put in, even though connections are simple I vacuumed the line to check for leaks and remove potential moisture before firing it up. It makes it toasty in the winter and freezing in the summer if you want.
