I've been thinking.. I think its in order for the home champion to start enticing the game with either a spot or possibly a refund for expenses. Its hard to play a home champion and then absorb all the gas, food, hotel, etc etc... In addition, the home champion has a huge advantage and thats at least a ball. I mean if you play even, under normal circumstances, then you should give up a little weight to make the game right on your home table and turf. What say you AZ billiards about this? If your gonna woof about anybody coming and putting stipulations then be classy and do the right thing.

i think a table is an advantage only if it is shimmed or rolls. For instance a stock diamond from the us open plays the same as the one next to it. So a diamond made the same time plays the same in Atlanta or Tampa. I dont see an advantage.

I'm not sure how they match up today in the year 2011, but before the advent of the Internet with all of its glorious technology, road players played the hometown champ on their own table with no spot, sometimes even using a house cue instead of a their own personal cue.
Today, there's more time spent matching up than there is actually playing pool. People are looking for somebody to drop their wallet instead of gambling.
There's hustling, and then there's gambling. Everybody is always looking for an edge, but in the end, I'd rather watch a good gambling match than sweating a game in which somebody has no chance to win. :smile:

I was under the impression that it was just much easier to get someone to drop their wallet before the advent of the internet.
