Hey,

i have been noticing for quite some time that cues that are listed as "Hoppe Style",

Shouldnt they really be called RAMBO Style cause he was the originator of that style of cue ?

not sure if Rambo originated the hoppe ring, but its probably b/c the willie hoppe titlist by brunswick. Thats the cues original name.

All they did was take off the bumper, and if you look closely you can see the plastic ring at the bottom just above the bumper, now cue makers copy that design....thus hoppe style cue.

but that is a great question.

Rambow worked for Brunswick for about 75% of his cuemaking career.
Willie Hoppe had one of the cue lines at that time.
They made a million of those titlist cues with the Ivory ring at the bottom back in the 40's and beyond.
Rambow left a little while after that, and made cues on his own, using those same titlist blanks.
The reason there were no bumpers on those cues, was due to the fact that people back then though it "cheapened" the look of the cue.
Rambow might have been the guy who designed that look at brunswick.
Who knows.

Hope this helps some.
