Horrible Mizerak Coverage

Is anyone else disappointed by the coverage at the Mizerak tourney? It seems like they showed more of the old people in the crowd than they did actual play time. I would have loved to watch an entire match instead of hearing some guy tell me what happened to lead up to the current shot. Guess I could have gone.

I made the same comments to my GF while watching it. "This is why the non pool player would not watch this" the picture quality wasn't good, the announcing was not good, showing half racks. I just wasn't happy at all. However at leasr it was on tv, I just hope that it didn't hurt more than it helped.
I'm not sure how many people were at the finals but it seemed like there was alot of empty seats on the front row. IMO they shouyld have told all the people who did not have VIP to come forward for the tv. That way it would not look like there was 3 people there.

I agree...it was sad the way it was done, i couldnt believe how much they fast forwarded through...

Something was definitely "off" in this airing. The lighting was drab and there was little energy at the venue. Add to that, the caliber of their play was not near where it had been all tourney long, which had been ridiculously stupendous! Oh God, the scratches on the break... "Calamine lotion please"

And geez, that annoying graphic of the acoustic speaker announcing "Rack X" with that gnarly "da da da, da da da" and was that a motorcycle revving - what the heck was that? They stuck our wet finger in that socket 17 times!

Many here are big believers in what the Tribe does for pool. I hope whoever produced this will make some adjustments next time out.

KK9, the tribe do a fantasic job putting on events. I am not slamming them for the production.
I also think I may have figured out why we have a negative opinion on this. I had been watching the Mosconi cup for 3 days with all the fanfare, excitement and quality commentary and picture quality. Maybe I was just accustom to that type of production and anything less than that was always going to be a let down. Its the only thing I can say to explain my reaction. Of course I could be wrong.

Yeah, it's not fair to compare the two and surely that was a factor in feeling a bit underwhelmed.

Anyone know who produced this? I know diddly about producing, but I'd think the tribe farmed this out?

I believe that the match was somewhere near one and a half hours long. The producers required that Mark Wilson edit it into 38 minutes of airtime.

I believe that he prepared weeks ahead of time for the opportunity to do all sorts of unique telestrating and presenting some more advanced concepts. When he arrived, however, the time constraints made it impossible to introduce any of the things he prepared. To have any type of continuity with the severe editing required to get it into 38 minutes was nearly impossible.

I'm surprised that they didn't just speed up the action like the Keystone Cops in the movies (or like that horrific speed pool on ESPN)...that would certainly give more time for those endlessly repeating commercials.

It took them 5 days of 12-16 hours a day to edit it down to current form. Had they had more airtime, and were able to show the match in its entirety, it would have been GREAT, and they could have spent far less time on it. They had a great production staff; but limited air time is the culprit.

I agree. I talked with a friend about it yesterday. And my exact words were this program is exactly why pool is rarely on TV here. I thought the whole production was lacking. And if I who is borderline obsessed with pool had a hard time getting into it. Then the average joe who is channel surfing surely would not watch.
