Horrors! Spirit Airlines and cues!

I recently took Spirit Airlines to get to my friend's bachelor party in Ft. Lauderdale and I have to say, never again. The overall experience both ways was just so terrible that I would rather have a non-direct flight that adds hours to my flight schedule than sit through another Spirits ride again. It was that bad...

Jay, did it have a TSA sticker on the bag? I wonder if your cue was the victim of overzealous inspectors.
I'm pretty sure it did. It did not come down with the regular luggage and I was directed to go to the Spirit Airlines office at the end of the baggage terminal. When I got there my large carrying bag was laying ouside the door along with a few other bags that hadn't been claimed. I was so glad to see it, I just looked inside and saw my cue case and zipped it back up and went home. This is what I found after I opened the case. I made my beloved cue into a lifetime momento. It's a Crown cue with two shafts made by Jacoby. I loved that cue! I don't think I've ever played that much since this happened about five years ago.

If tournaments had a few custom printed exclusive cue sticks for players or promotional material.

Then if I ever made the trip I would want an exclusive cue to show off, having an official tournament sanctioned cue could be fun to buy or for players to sell when returning back from the tournament.

I worry about traveling with the cue. Why can't I just buy one? If its a required purchase for tournament entry, it could help save the travel problems?

Doc Frye fixed a few of his goofy customers broken cues. Maybe yours can be creatively repaired/restored. Creative ring work or something at the break.

@ Jay Helfert; Good idea GC has, what about asking your cue maker if he can scarf in a section of your favorite exotic wood. Something of similar weight to keep the balance point close to the same?

At least we can all learn from your experience...... always inspect any luggage with TSA sticker for damage.... BEFORE you leave the pickup area.

Or better yet, screw em. Rent a car and drive.

This is my first time flying Spirit Airlines, and my heart told me not to trust them with my cues! How do you lose a bag on a nonstop flight from St. Thomas to Orlando??!! I guess Racks in Sanford won't be seeing me tonight! 😡😢

Praying that they are found, and warning all players...leave Spirit Airlines alone!!
I’m a recreational player but enjoy playing when I travel. I bought a 3 piece cue to avoid checking my cue or playing with a house cue. Ill play for some cash with it but nothing real big. I understand that you want your playing cue if your going to compete or play for stakes. Good luck.
