How about this action challenge

Players worthy to play Shane:

Johnny Archer
Rodney Morris
Francisco Bustamante
Dennis Orcollo
Ralf Souquet
Thorsten Hohmann
Chin Shun Yang
Fong Pang Chao

(I've omitted Alcano due to his legal issues)

Pick someone from that list and I'll watch the next AC. If the game is going to be 10 ball, I want one of the above opponents. If it's 9-ball, that makes it a different ballgame.

You left out Efren. He is still beating everyone in the Phils for the cheese. He would be the greatest draw and is the best player...I know I know, not in a short rack rotation game, but let him get in stroke and watch out...Tom

Although

some of those matches might be really good, I can't see anyone coming from the Philippines or Europe for just a 10k match, since their costs for the match would probably be $4,000-5,000 altogether with airfare, car rental, motel, food, etc.. And most players would proabably not want to travel to a foreign land to gamble by theirselves. (backers, friends, etc..)

For 20k, yes, but not 10k, plus they would probably require some other action be available to them besides Shane.

Well put. In any case I'm sure looking forward to the announcement on the next challenge.

Not if it happens before or after the Derby City games this January. A lot of the top Filipinos will be in town. IMHO, it is the perfect opportunity for Perry Mariano or 'Bugsy' to prove his statements against Shane are true by fielding one of his top players in an action challenge vs SVB. He has Dennis Orcullo, Ronnie Alcano, Lee Van Corteza, Jeff De Luna and Roberto Gomez in his stable. I am quite sure any of these 5 will offer the viewers a more exciting match-up than this last one with Earl.

Puyat also has the financial capability of backing up his top players too. He has Efren, Django and Alex Pagulayan in his own stable. I am sure that either of these 2 prominent billiards manager woulld be more than willilng to back up such an event, if only for the prestige and bragging rights of defeating SVB in his own territory.

SVB has consistently proven that he is the top dog in the American billiards scene already. Am I the only one who thinks it will be more exciting and profitable for TAR to feature a match between Shane and one of the top Filipinos vs a match up with Rodney Morris or Johnyy Archer?

I think Shane Van Boening vs Kuo Po Cheng would be a dandy.

Did you see Gomez demolish Kuo in the last WPC? IMHO, he is not that big a draw compared to the Filipinos. Even CS Yang and CC Wu have not been performing well lately. They did not even figure prominently in the recently held Dumaguete tournament. Anyway, TPE players for some reason do not play well when playing outside Asia. CS Yang, CC Wua and Kuo played tournaments in the USA but never even came close to snapping a title. You hardly even noticed they were here.

Just my humble opinions.

When did Yang ever come to the USA???

He was in the this year's Challenge of Champions. Did not even win a single game. He lost his first match and was knocked out.

Other noteable mentions would have to be Dennis Hatch and Larry Nevel. They both play pretty good for the cheese too.

They would BOTH need weight. Shane would win in convincing fashion over either player. IMO. It might not be 100-64, but convincing none the less.

Yup, I agree.

There's not many players in the world you can put into the ring with Shane at the moment without weight. That's why I'm bit amused people are giving these funny names all the time.

I think at the moment only Orcullo could be the challenger for him. Corteza, Alcano, Pagulayan, would make it interesting also, so would Efren and Django for obvious reasons, but I'd say Orcullo is the only one who would be anyhow comfortable to make a sweat bet with, when matching up with Shane, and even then, I'd still rather take Shane, especially when played in USA...

Just forget these "What about Jeremy Jones?" type of questions, please.
