How angry do you get?

Now, on a scale of 1 to snapping a meucci, how angry do you get?

I think your scale is backwards....I might snap a Meucci 'cause I'm happy.
...and I can't possibly get mad enough to snap a Szamboti.....
....although I've seen it done.

And pool is just like poker....losers have a lot of leeway on how they handle their loss...
.....don't be a sore winner.

I was playing for fun with a younger man who was supposed to be better than me.
Even though I was winning most of the games, he was commenting about how bad I was playing on every shot.
I ask him if he was trying to distract me because it wan't working.
Then I said, I don't talk when you shoot, please do the same for me.
He got so mad, he never played me again :)

Maybe he knows that giving lessons is the only way he's going to get any money from you.

Should have said lessons are expensive do you have some more money to give me say Double the bet same race. :)

Let me get the setting of this event situated for you.

You are practicing alone on a 9 foot diamond table. A moron is barking at you for several minutes straight letting the whole room know that you are too chicken to gamble because you mentioned you were there to practice. What he isn't telling the whole room is that he wants weight, and to move to the bar box. Eventually you spark up a game you both agree on. You stay on the big table, 9 ball, winner breaks, rack your own, 9 ball spots on the break. $100, You are racing to 9, him to 6.

You now have 7 racks, and he has 1. You haven't necessarily been running racks, but you have kept control well enough to get where you are easily. While you break and run the next two racks to win the set, the moron is critiquing your EVERY shot. After the set is done the guy asks if you are interested in getting lessons to elevate your game.

This is exactly what pool halls need, these types of people:) let them bark all they want! If you're taking his money, by him some drink, food, and nice desert and keep on taking his money!

I do not condone "robbing" people, but sometimes, some people just flat out deserve it!

Don't be mad in any way of you're getting paid by someone who is telling you you need lessons! Agree with him and tell him how lucky you were that set and go for it again;)

Ask him if his girlfriend will be free for dinner and a movie later:grin-devilish:
That should shut him up

I'm sorry, that was wrong lol

As long as you didn't get the feeling you were being set up,
since he was offering lessons I would have asked for weight and double or nuthin'....
since he was offering to teach

Everyone has made good points. I guess the key is to not really read into behavior like this, and allow them to donate money as they see fit. Thanks for the responses.

I just find it hard to believe that these kind of people are driving cars and what not. Scary.

If youre mad at anyone, it should yourself for messing with people like that. The hundred really wouldn't be worth me listening to all of that. Id ask him to go away and find someone else to mess with. Drama begets prison terms.

If you didn't want to gamble and only practice, you shoulda said loudly "Even race to 9 for $100, call it." It appears as if, once he knew you were only there to practice, he figured he could get away with barking and didn't think you'd actually take him up on it. Or simply ignore him and go about your practice. One thing is for certain, he's figured out how to get to you and will likely pull this stunt next time you are there just practicing.

Those opening comments were funny as hell. But seriously, this would be crazy funny if he was actually setting you up for the ultimate hustle and a $100 was a small investment in his mind.

Wonder if we'll get a thread about "How mad would you be?: Just lost $500 to this loud mouth who I beat 9-1 last week"

Maybe you should have asked if he taught pool better than he played because it sounds like you play much better than him, especially if the guy asks for weight.
