how are ya'll doing in league ?

Played last match of the session last night - until we drew the Ace in the wildcard deck of cards, so we have one wildcard match next week in 8-ball.

Played a SL5/6 (38/46 race) in APA 9-ball. Was behind most of the match, but won 38-41. Close. Didn't shoot great but didn't embarrass myself, either.

Played the same guy in 8-ball, SL4/6, in a 3-5 race. After two racks we were 1-1. Like in 9-ball, missed a lot of shots barely CB right. Both my captain (SL7) and my opponent mentioned that I was jumping up. Stopped jumping up and made a few nice 5, 6-ball runs to get out, including one really nice cut with a lot of inside spin to have the CB come off a cushion, avoid a cluster of balls that was on the natural CB path had I hit it with no English, ending up with a straight-in shot on the 8. I even impressed myself. Won 3-2.

After the wildcard match next week, I'm going to take the summer session off, work on my game, and see how I feel about rejoining a team in the fall.

Playing im a captains vegas qualifier tournament today. Got bored sitting here waiting for our next round and thought i would let yall know how its going.

I picked up a 4 ididmt know in order to meet the 15 handicap limit with 3 players. Have a 5 and me as a 6 so the 4 made 15.

First round we come out firing and won 5-0. Second round we won 5-3 with an underhandicapped 4 giving our 5 fits. This 4 came in second last year at the 9 ball simgles nationals.

3 rd round we lost 5-4. Another underhandicapped 4 ...in my opiniom giving our 5 fits.

The 4 has been a pleasant surprise so far winning most of his matches.

As for me ?

First round i beat a 6/6 twice in 8 ball. We never played 9 ball.

Second round i won two 8 ball matches and lost 9 ball to a 6/6

3rd round i lost 8 ball and won 9 ball to a 7/8. Shoulda won 8 but got out of positiom on my last ball. 9 ball was a real saftey battle between us but i finally pulled out the win.

Waiting on our next oppinemt to finish their current match.

Oh yea...i am a 5/6 and have to play as a 6 in this thing.

I am on the worst losing streak I've ever been on. After starting the session 5-0, I am now 5-6. Spring is always tough, as I coach high school softball and my schedule is super hectic, but this is getting laughable. I am losing to players who honestly should not beat me. In these situations, it seems that the pockets on my shots are sub 4", my opponents make every single kick, bank, and slop shot, and if they miss they leave me dead hooked.

I need to find some zen somewhere!
It happens jokers! You don’t need zen-Xanax is what you need.

I’m in same boat, but only in 8 at league. I’m better at 8 than 9 and right now I’m sitting at 3-3 in 8 and 4-1 in 9. SL 5/7. I don’t know what is going on. But same as you. I played a 6 the other day. I played some table safes, but also played 3 nice safes. He kicked 1 in(great shot) and slopped in another. 3rd one he did hit ball but didn’t pocket anything. And I missed like 3 straight in balls. Honestly I almost cried. Then I played the same dude at 9 and just smoked him. Who knows?

Another match in 8 I scratched 5 times in first two games. The fact it took him 5 ball in hands to win 2 games should tell you an estimate of his level. Cb into pocket scratches. Wtf?! Got him hill/hill. Then scratched on my break, also making 8. It happens. Gotta ride it out!

Nice going. I think i have earned only one of those in my 12 years of playing.
Thank you! Question for you as you mentioned it in your previous longer post. New players need 10 games for qualifiers? That’s more a statement than question. What if a player only has 9 games but is the highest handicap. So SL 7/9. Are they able to compete in qualifiers. Or let’s say (I don’t know why anyone would do this)you have a 4/4 that didn’t get their 10 in. Can they actually play qualifiers as a 7/9 and get up to their 10 matches in qualifiers?

I might not get my 10 in in 9 ball. Might only get 9 in because they played Easter matches early and I missed that double session. Got on my captain last week for not marking my safeties. So I’m a 9 ball SL7 with like a .1 or .2 safety rating thing right now.

So to sum up league yesterday. This is how it went. Check pictures below. It was just too tempting with cb position and the 6 right by that Diamond. Plus I was down. So went for it. I made the 7 with the impossible 3 rail kick carom. Cb sat right by pocket. Yes perfect speed! Then the 6 came off the other long rail and knocked in the cb. Wtf?!!!! That sums up my matches.

It was on a bar box btw. Not 9footer.

A little sarcasm and constructive criticism here...

In other words, you need to study the tangent line and pattern play a bit more and quit trying to be fancy.

And in case you think I'm just being an ass - I was a "fancy" player for most of my life (drew balls I shouldn't, banked balls I shouldn't, ran into balls I shouldn't, etc.) and was a pretty good player and respected in the "banger leagues" but when I finally put my head into the game and started listening, learning, and putting REAL work into practice my skillset jumped very drastically, very quickly and I became a formidable opponent to the people I thought I would never beat.

Take it from someone who's been there and done that - you're doing it wrong, trust me.

I've got 5 weeks left in this session, then playoffs and cities, then I'm hanging it up in league for now. Got 5 good years in league, 4 in a cash league and 1 in APA. I'll probably take a short break and then start playing weekly tournaments instead. I've gone to my local pool room a few times during tournaments to practice and I just love the vibe. Everyone is there to play pool, there's very little BSing going on, and when you lose, you can go home!

well my 8 ball team tanked last night 0-5 with just one point
they all shit the bed, but i had fun playing my good 4 on a 7, hes honestly a 5 but new and hasnt gotten there yet
he was real good on the 8 hill hill and scratched
that 7`s ass was burning up all match

he hated the 2-5 race and thought hed have a much easier time on me
which i full intended to play him but that was before being down 9-0
i wasnt gonna let us go quietly into that goodnight lol

In regards to the 3 rail thread I started (either you deleted a post or it's in a different thread?), that shot is a tool you need in your toolbox, not just to get out of a safety but, especially, when you're bouncing around the table banking and bumping into balls that don't need to be touched ;)

Ask me how I know ;)

You gotta stop being so serious in the league thread Chili. And if you want to be serious. You can’t coach unless you call a timeout first.

And if you want to be taken seriously, quit bragging about being drunk when playing pool and realize you're in a world of REAL pool players. You've been here for less than a year but you've got a bigger **** than all of us. Trust me, you need to step back and think about this for a minute. I've been in the pool world since the mid 80's and I ain't shit around here. I've been around forums for 30 years and I saw you from a mile away. Take a breath, think about what you want out of this forum, and then post accordingly, trust me, you'll get eaten alive here. PM me if you'd like, otherwise, this conversation is over.

Well this has to be said for everyone here regardless if the conversation is over. Yep I’m always drunk in league. So are half the players at the session. They are getting tipsy or getting high out front. Talking about being wasted should absolutely be acceptable in a league thread. The bars would be out of business if they ran leagues 7 days a week, like where I go, and everyone sipped on water. My fiancé and I spend $50 a session on food and drinks. Most of the time the drinks aren’t Coca Cola.

And I'm sure the bar owners thank you for your patronage.

My team spends at least $100 bucks a night at the bars we play in. At least. One bar kicked us out for "not buying enough beer." Seriously. My captain laughed in her face and we quit the place immediately. She had no clue how valuable we were to her week night take. (not to mention we got first place!)

That's only 20 bucks a piece of spending for a night of entertainment. With food and drink prices so high now, that's nothing.
