We finished 3 points out of the Big Dawg title. And in the process accomplished something I have never seen in APA before....we beat our opponents 15-0. One person in our league has over 5k matches in APA and says she has never witnessed it either.
Good news for me is my losing streak is finally over. I smoked a guy 5-0 in 7 total innings with a BnR. I 100% credit the game Bowliards from the thread in the main page. It definitely slowed me down, caused me to re-center, refocus, and concentrate much more on cue ball control .
We have playoffs next week, so hopefully we will qualify for TRI-Cups. I finally have a team that I am pretty happy with, and with a wide range of handicaps. Right now we have a strong 7, weakish 6, two average 5's, a strong 4, average 4, average 3, and an average 2. I hope we can keep it together for at least the next few sessions. Having to split our team last year due to handicap issues was hard, but I had no idea it would take so long to get back up to speed.
I have had to "invite" several people to not come back over the past year and a half:
- 38 year old woman who, if I didn't play her first, would be so drunk she couldn't hit the cue ball with a boat paddle.,
- The guy who sandbagged so bad I once watched him take 6 shots at the 8 ball, just to get his innings up, and shot an entire match with his off hand, just to get his innings up
- The 24 year old girl who took it as personal insult, rolled her eyes, sighed, and pouted if I called a timeout to try and help her SL 2 shooting azz...
- The sore loser who tried to shark his opponent after EVERY shot by stating "that's a ball in hand for me, right?" He would also accuse most of the people who beat him of sandbagging or some other type of shenanigans, which almost always led to threats, then yelling, then invitations to "step outside".
Yep, there have been some real winners come through. Luckily my sanity has stayed intact. Mostly.
