I got the mini slams in 9-ball and 8-ball this session, so I qualify for the grand slam. I asked my LO if I could get the patches and was told I had to pay for them

It's only $6, but we all know why they should be free, when we dump $$$ into the leagues.

What kind of leagues give out these patches? From what I've seen from the experienced players they seem to be useless trinkets - in terms of the way they're looked at, but until I get to the point where I'm inundated with them like those players are they seem pretty damn neat to me. I've started putting disc golf stuff on my billiards bag and stuff. I want to get some of these billiards patches and shit so I can put them on my disc golf stuff. :)

I apologize in advance for the beating that is destined to happen to the person who is lucky enough to play me tonight in either 8 or 9.

8 ball 7 vs 7....team needs as many points as possible to win overall points to go straight to masters.

Spimp daddy to the plate. After removing the safeties from the innings (half inning per safety) 5-2 in 6.5 innings...you heard of Nostradamu's predictions...my new nickname might be nostraspimpus!

APA gives out patches for various things but how they are distributed varies with different divisions. For example, in my area the first one is free then they charge a buck per patch after that.

In NAPA, if you score 23 (I think) points in one night, you are placed in the "Hall of Hustlers" and given a certificate. To get 23 points is pretty tough:
20 pts for a shut-out (your opponent wins no games in your match)
14 pts if your opponent wins at least one game

Bonus Pts:
+1 for rackless (you won the lag and let your opponent choose the game)
+1 for every on-the-snap
+1 for every break-and-out

A break-and-out in NAPA just means that your opponent does not have a turn at the table... so if you're playing 9-ball and you break and pocket the 2 ball and have an easy 1-9 combination, you get a break-and-out. Of course, breaking and runnout the table also counts.

APA gives patches out for certain "challenges" completed. Little knick knack stuff like, I have:
"8 on the break" - Make the 8-ball on the break
"9 on the snap" - Make the 9-ball on the break
"8 Break & Run" - B&R in an 8-ball match
"9 Break & Run" - B&R in a 9-ball match
"Rackless Night" - Win the lag and win every game; Never rack.

The Mini Slams are for 9-ball or 8-ball when you get a "on the break" and "break and run" patch. The grand slam is getting a mini slam in both 8-ball and 9-ball.

Then the APA gives out other patches, like your yearly membership patch and other challenge patches like the Skunk patch for beating your opponent 20-0 in 9-ball.

Yea, our LO figured out that once we had one patch, we don't care for more.

We wrapped up this session using the using the new 9 ball game feature on the Scorekeeper App. Its was awesome, even though our team finished last. Plenty of fun this session and scoring is now a breeze for 8 - 9 - 10 ball!

I didn't know this ^^^

The best player on my NAPA 8-ball team (and by far the best player in our immediate area, in any discipline), only played one week this session (our first for any of us in NAPA). He played a guy in a 5-5 race, won the lag, had 3 Break and runs, winning 5-0 (we do not mark misses and makes or innings in NAPA, but he only had one miss, from a dry break then a lock down safety)...

I guess this would put him in the hall of Hustlers for it, but I wonder if you have to have 'X' amount of matches played?

Ok, fellow league players.... Here's my dilemma / question for you:

Last week if you he session for NAPA. We're in third, and mathematically cannot take first place, and neither can the other team..

Im right behind the top points getter in the league (who is a 59), by I think like 16 points. They also have a player who is (I think) rated a 105... My dilemma is, should I go out of my way to try and shoot him (I would need to beat him 6-0 to pass him up) , or play their best player, because if not it has the perception of me trying to duck him (it would be a 6-5 race between us, me getting a game)....

Im pretty sure I'm gonna try and match up with the top points getter, in an attempt to win it... But just looking for opinion as to whether I'll look like a punk (lol)..

As a caveat, if my best shooter is there ( only been there for one week in the entire session), it's not even close, he will shoot their best player (and probably destroy him)..

I'd always want to shoot against the other teams best player.

Rain man....is playing the top points guy the only way you can win it? Could you have your best player beat him 6-0 to stop him from getting the points and then have a good match against their best shooter and still come out on top? My vote would be to go for the win.

Lol shamless plug for that app!

It's cool and all, but it doesn't help at all for the APA.

Even if it did work for APA, we'd have a difficult time getting it used in our division....quite a few flip phone users here :p

No league for me this week; we have a Bye. I have to keep an eye on the scoreboard, though. We may get knocked out of the playoffs tonight.

Anyone besides me and lorider play NAPA?

Nationals are Coming!
http://www.napaleagues.com/page.php?page=nationals
http://www.napaleagues.com/page.php?page=registered_players

found out our cities fall the during the time napa nationals are held.

guess i will not be going to the nationals.:(

i thought about it over several days but being the captain of my team i cant see abandoning them to go to the nationals.

my co captain is going but since he is the napa lo here i see where it is his obligation to go. i am not sure how we will fare in the cities with out my co captain...he is a 7/9.

it is gonna be a real bummer if i pass up napa nationals and lose in the cities and dont go to vegas either.

Wow... We can't be late to start more than 5 minutes and play has to be continuous. Once some douche bag wanted to mark me as a forfeiter because I went to the bathroom.

Some people are pathetic... I'm sorry man sh!t like that is wrong.

JG

man i cant believe some of the crap ya'll guys put up with.

i am pretty easy going and laid back but i would not put up with the above scenario.

our matches start at 7;30. at 7;35 you better have a player at the table or its a forfiet.

i will accomodate another captain wanting a certain player to face mine. when i throw a certain person at 7;30 and he says so and so aint here yet to face him i say i will throw this other instead ...now get your player to the table or its a forfiet.

i have started my double jeapordy league with just 2 of us there and we keep our own scores till other players show up. i dont wait for my players and i dang sure aint waiting for some one elses players.when i gotta go to work in the morning.

Going run to the bathroom before the match is ok if you atleast tell someone. Waiting 45 minutes because Joe Blow isn't here yet is BS.
