how are ya'll doing in league ?

Weren't you playing on Friday nights or was that just a playoff thing or something? We don't have Friday leagues around here. Good luck on the new session and new players.

Damn those big tables. I play on them a little more often than that now, but it still shows quite a bit when I haven't been on them in a while. I used to hate them almost as much as Diamonds.

...

Our 8-ball is on Tuesdays, and 9-ball on Thursdays, I must've been talking about playing at our club or something if it was a Friday. Tri Cups, States, Best of the Best, all on Sat/Sun here.

You and lorider are barbox guys, does that mean I have a chance if I get you on a 9-footer? :p

There's always a chance!

Our TriCups/Regionals are held on the weekends.. but!.. some teams have to play Friday night, starting at 7pm. I think if you win your first match on Sunday, you advance from TriCup to Regional. Not that I would know anything about that.. :( Got there with my g/f's team last year and couldn't even play. That's the only time I've been to regionals with a team.

hey banks... i think i smell a hustler here. a guy who we know plays strictly on 9's asking if he has got a chance on a 9' against us bar box guys.

how many games on the wire should we spot him so he thinks he got a chance.

It'll need to be a lot!

our 8 ball tri cups were held last weekend starting fri night. i rode my bike down there sat morning since the weather was not too bad and cheered on some friends. in our area we have a bylaw that the runner up in cities gets an automatic bid in next years cities. thats my team .

our 9 ball tri cups are held this next weekend and my team is not in it.:( we do have one last shot at the next tri cup before cities are held.

tonight is my 8 ball travel league. i am gonna have to miss tonight because the g/f needs the car to go to her sons high school basketball game. i hate missing tonight but i am not about to ride my bike 30 miles in 19 degree weather. i don't love pool that much ! i told the g/f we gotta get another vehicle. she said well sell the bike. that ain't happening !!

I think we should spot him 2 whiskeys!

Okay.. 3 whiskeys?

carefull banks..... he might be one of those guys that the more they drink the better they shoot. and if that is the case we just need to buy him a 5th so he will be seeing 3 cue balls when he goes to shoot. :grin-square:

:-)

Good luck this week, everyone

I'll give you 5-3 in 8 and spot you a s/l in 9! But that's it!

Wait, hold up.. I'm not doing what I've been taught..

We play even for a day and then adjust!

You wouldn't happen to be trying to trap me eh :D ?

Won my first match of the new session last night, 13-7. I beat another SL5, one I've had the better of the last few times we've played.

He clearly wasn't having a good night, and I got out to a good lead. This despite my scratching on the first two breaks, and giving him another couple ball-in-hands....I was fortunate to be where I was. Once I got over those early match scratchs, I settled in and played reasonably well.

Here's the kicker. I have GOT to get better at closing the deal. I was up 33-18, and let him get to 30 or so before I got out. Did I have an unlucky roll or two in that sequence, probably, but I also had a couple shots in there that I should have executed better, too.

Gotta get the "step on their throat" thing going....we can always use the extra points in the split. Especially when we only end up winning 53-47, and I could have had a bigger impact on that score. Talking with our SL7 about it, same thing happened in his match. That will make the difference between getting in the playoffs and not...

Still, its great to have the session going again!

That's my problem. I usually get out to a 25-30 point lead and start goofing up. Our team is in first place right now by about 30-40 points, but with the winter storm that came through, we had to cancel all matches this week.

Good news, though, my break cue came back from repairs, so I can start crushing them again. No more 12 mph soft breaks for me

Gave myself a scare on Tuesday night losing the first game to a 5, but was able to hold her to the one game from there. Played twice for masters on Wednesday and won both of those. So far, undefeated in 8b and masters this session. Still 0-1 in 9b. Played BCA last night and won 4, finishing with 45 points or something. I think I've gone 4-1 each of the weeks for playoffs. One more week to go for that and I'll only have 3 nights to worry about. :thud:

I had an uninspired 4-0 win in a 5-4 race (NAPA). I played poorly, my opponent played poorly. The way I look at, I just lost slower than he did.

As I tell my friends, "You don't have to play well, just well enough."

Well, it was good to get the points for the team but...

When I walk away from the table, I'm only thinking about how I played. I can play well and lose and be happier than if I play poorly and win.

I think that's why we are in first place, even though we aren't crushing teams. Every loss we have is a close match. I lost to a 5 (9ball) last week and since it was only by a few balls, they ended up something like 12-8 or 13-7. Winning and getting 12 or 13 would be better but we are winning just by enough to stay in the lead every night and it's adding up.

I totally agree with you.
