How builds the best shafts

Darrin Hill made me a shaft a few years ago, and it was a great player. Reasonable price as well.

I heard that HOW went into hiding...

I too was looking for HOW...last I heard he has sold his equipment, house and all personal belongings, and is living in the mountains somewhere...in hiding. He now has a 2' long beard and is completely un recognizable...

Lol, seriously, do a search on the best hitting cues, you'll find a bunch of threads on the subject, those are the best shafts if you're into solid maple shafts...if u like LD, flip a coin predator, MEZZ, OB...all same thing, just depends what your used to. If starting out w/an LD, matters not which one. IMO.

I second the motion

Alright since you want a serious recommendation then I'll put this out there for you. I just got one and love it also Gene Albrecht aka genomachino has spoken highly about these shafts as well. I am considering another for a different cue I have. So without further ado, here you go......

Best shaft on the market for more reasons than one.

I have paid 225.00 for a custom shaft from a well known builder that warped in three months. I have had many shafts and Adam Wilson out of Athens, Al makes the best shafts I have ever had, at about half the price others charged. I like the white hard rock maple with no arrow grains or dark sugar marks like you see on most shafts.

I`m using the Mezz Hybrid Alpha II shaft and will admit without shame that the low deflection qualities of that shaft makes me a better player, top and bottom spin is so easy compared to a regular maple shaft. I have never been able to make draw shots of the same caliber with any other shaft, LD or not...

Best shaft I've ever played with is the one that came with my Sugartree, his pin is 3/8-10 so I put it on another one of my cues that hit softer than my Sugar, it stiffened and livened up the hit tremendously... It was just a experiment but still if you have a 3/8-10 custom pinned cue I recommend getting your hands on a Sugartree cue shaft. I've seen them in the for sale section for $150...

Says the guy with a break speed of 55mph in his signature. Did you forget to set the app to a bar box or what?

double lolol
:D

The "best" maple shafts are straight-grained, old growth maple, many growth rings per inch (18+, dense), and made by a cuemaker with a reputation for making top playing cues (sweet taper). This is arguable, some saying they get great playing shafts with only 6 or 8 gri. Or, you could forget about all that and get the winner of the popularity contest. I really feel that some fantastic maple shaft blanks could come out of China/Russia someday soon, where there may still be some non-decimated forests. John Barton has connections (or knowledge) with big cue factories in China...how 'bout some higrade John?
