How can I make my table play faster

I have simonis 860 cloth that was professionally installed 7 years ago. I have not played on the table for 7 years and the table had a dust cover over it all this time so the cloth is like new. The cloth was stretched tight and still remains tight. The table seems to roll slower than what I remember from 7 years ago. I run a dehumidifyer 24/7 in the pool room. Any ideas why it seems slower than before and better yet any way to make the table roll quicker?

It will take me the rest of my lifetime to wear out the 860 cloth. The installer is coming to look at my table on Thursday. I am trying to avoid the cost of removing the 860 and replacing it with 760 if at all possible. I may have the rail rubber replaced to see if that would help speed up my table as I think I can have that done relatively inexpensive. I would love to be able to keep the 860 but if it can't be sped up I may be force to go the 760 route. All the tables that I currently play league and tournaments on use 860 and some of the tables really roll fast. I am just trying to duplicate the conditions that I play on in my league within my house table.

I PREFER that to playing on a table that it is so FAST that you have to "plinkety plink" the balls around like on a pachinko machine. That KILLS my stroke. I hate bunting balls around...I like HITTING them with a bit of AUTHORITY to keep the ball on line and to kill the cue ball on most shots.

I DON'T like my ball travelling all over the table unless that is what I am intending to do.

I have the same problem on my table; however, I have simonis 760 on it. I asked the exact same question in a few threads that you just asked. I'm reluctant to recount some of it, (I think I'm on enough posters "ignore " list already) but we first thought it was old cushions. We then determined it was poor rails. I have a family table. (I'm reluctant to mention the brand: see the previous brackets)

The finer family tables have one inch slate; therefore, the quality of the roll is the same as the quality of the roll on a "players" table. However, a "players" table is constructed from the ground up with the idea of providing a heaviness and a solid structure to support the rails. The rails are also made of fine wood. These qualities combine to produce a lively bounce off the cushions, provided the cushions are in good shape.

Family tables are not constructed in such a manner for the simple reason that your average family table player does not possess the skill to take advantage of the lively bounce provided by the "players" table, so there's no need to go to the added expense of constructing a family table in such a manner. The rails on my table are made of fiber wood.

You didn't mention the make and model of the table you play on, but if it has poorly constructed rails like mine, the problem might be in the slowness of the bounce because of the the rails, and not the cushions or the cloth. I've solved my problem. The table I've been playing on for 43 years will be leaving this week and a brand new used Gold Crown 4 will be joining the family next week.

I made a mistake by putting my post under RJ's post. I guess I should take take the advise he gave me a few months ago and "Stop smoking what I'm smoking and start writing with both hands."
 
It was forgotten by the member you're referring to. in fact I recently purchased one his books and it's been highly informative, interesting and helpful to my game.

I may have to go with this, you could have played a lot on the fast boingy new Diamonds and after a while that changed what you think about what a "fast" or "slow" table feels like. Maybe the balls you use were changed. I know when I play with the Aramith Turnament set I need to really have a good stroke going for them to react the same way as the Centenials or the Aramith Pro sets do.

Don't recall that, but if I said it, it had to "solid gold" :)
 
We changed the cloth on our community center's table to Simonis 860HR from shag carpet about 18 months ago.

At first it seemed like playing on linoleum tile (hmm, does anyone remember linoleum tile?). No one could believe how long/far the balls rolled.

Now that everyone's used to it, you'll hear comments like "table's playing a little slow today..." or "Gee, I thought I'd get more roll out that shot"

I suspect you've just gotten used to fast cloth.

My table was slow until I replaced the rail rubber and it came to life. If you have Simonis 860 and it's clean then it has to be the rail rubber that's not letting the balls react quickly off the rails! It worked for me so try some fresh rail rubber and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
