I am curious.... Just bought a pawned Pechauer Pro series P11 from 2009 in flawless condition.

How can you tell if a cue tip needs replacement?? Cue came in a case and was likely kept there for some time. (hard case is "pleather"... but has no wear on the outside. Inside the case was an used APA rule book for 2013 from Houston Tx.

This cues tip looks relatively unused and has plenty of meat on it much more than my typical Ultra skin cue tips... I just scuffed/ shaped it a slight bit.

The cue is straight and looks new. Wood and clear coat is perfect as well.

Do cues of it's age have tips that lose humidity or other characteristics that one would think matters, with regard to hit and feel???

I have Cues with tips on them a lot older than that. If you wiggle the tip with your finger nail on the sides and it does try to lift like the glue is not holding any more on one side or the leather doesn't give, the tip should be okay.

How you can tell if the tip needs replaced is to start playing with the cue. If you do not like the way the tip plays then change it to the tip you are currently using on your other cues. If it plays good leave it on. Age does not matter. The test driving/playing test always applies.

The worst thing that can happen is you like that tip better than any other tip you have ever hit a bll with , but will never know what it was to be able to get more. :)
