I just purchased a used lathe from a guy for a $1000 CAD that's about $875 US, it's a Unique products lathe and it would be the package III. Just wondering if anybody had any experience with these lathes and if they are decent or junk, although it's kind of late to be asking now...........thanks in advance for any info.....Al

I'd say you got a great buy if the unit is in good shape. The Cue Companion is limited in what you can do with it, however. If you're wanting to do small maintenance and simple cue repair it works fine and is highly portable. What's disappointing about the smaller cue lathes in general is the accuracy leaves a lot to be desired compared to a 12x40 metal lathe.

The CC is actually pretty accurate if you line up the tailstock right.
The tailstock is only made of aluminum though and it can't take much torque.
You can pin butts and thread shafts with it albeit a little slow.
If you have a taper machine, you can build sneakies with a CC.

I bought one, and I wished I bought a bigger lathe instead. I still ended up buying a bigger lathe, but for what I use the CC for I could of built something substantially cheaper.
