How did this become OK ?

As long as pool players aint wearing the waistband of their pants around their thighs I don't really care what they wear cause that is just the dumbest shit I have ever seen in my life. I guess I don't care if they are jumping on tables either as long as it aint mine.
My friend invited his wife to watch us play in a tournament and there was this guy with a shirt too short and his plumbers ass showing. She gave us a funny look like “you pool players. “

Yes. Dress appropriately.

I wanted to tell the guy.

I played in a senior tournament today. One guy had his pants (I know, trousers in snookerville) well to low. Not gangsta in any way, shape, or form tho. Needed the curtain of charity on the plumbers crack.

It's trash and makes pool look like a low class sport.

You don't see snooker players do it.
Who are you kidding? Pool is a low class sport, and who wants to party with those stuck up snooker players? I want a double shot of Jim Beam and a PBR, not a cup of Tea!

It's amazing, when a big tournament finishes, these kind of threads always pop up again.
it does seem to be a matchroom tradition. It's old news, been going on for the last couple years.

Agreed. I've been around pool for decades and this doesn't offend me in the slightest.

Here's just a small spattering of examples, including Mosconi Teams, SVB, Biado, etc.

2023 Mosconi

2022 Mosconi

2021 Mosconi

2022 World 9-ball

2021 World 9-ball

isnt it disrespectful to stand up in front of others that are sitting down forcing them to stand up. as in the background.

that directly affects others.

I'm not sure what post you are commenting on, But I instantly thought of church. Whole lot of sitting kneeling standing, repeat, repeat.
I grew up Catholic.

Everyone does it now.
It's classless.
I don't expect anyone to change.
One day someone will impress us by respecting the equipment after they win one.
Agreed! I‘ve always thought getting on the table is disrespectful and contrary to how we all were taught to respect the equipment that we all share. Standing on a table would be that last that anyone would do before they got shown the door in any poolroom.

Now I don’t think it’s good for the game for the players to act like robots and I do like to see players individual personalities to come through even if it’s someone‘s abrasive personality.

It has been going on for quite some time and I’m always a little embarrassed for the player that does it. It is MONKEY see MONKEY do.
