How do I get out of this?

It's an even better picture with the thread title superimposed. :)

Or, allow me to ask - do you hit this double kiss shot with enough speed to take a decent table's possible roll-off away?
I use enough speed to make sure I get the CB at back past the side pocket. It is very tough to hit that ball square but on my good days and I am really in stroke I like my chances JMO

I hit the double kiss with a decent speed draw shot and hit right it will kick the cueball back down table...

Interesting... So you'd hit it with some speed.

Ok, there's like 800 youtubes of pros playing matches. Are there any examples of how someone handled this extreme situation? I can't recall any to this extreme.

It may sound crazy but kicking at it is probably the best odds . Hitting just before the side with extream english you have a good chance of making it ,also hit it with speed so if you miss you leave distance

I would aim to hit half the 9 at mach 7 or maybe even mach 8 and play all 6 pockets and maybe even a few more pockets on nearby tables. I'm not even joking.

Yes a little speed. It really helps to know the table but for me it is most important to trust in your stroke and know you are hitting the CB exactly where you aim. After you try it a few time let me know how it works for you. Never seen any vids of it sorry. A friend that taught me to play showed it to me a long time ago

Good call shoot at back of side pocket ,just short of point, kicking is easiest . Your speed dictates safe ty.

You can 4 rail it into the corner with about a 50/50 chance with a lot of practice on it. I knew one guy that would bet $50 a shot on cutting it in the corner. You can also 3 rail it back into the other corner.

I think I would like the guy that would prop bet it... I would go off be good for a benjamin trying my chances shooting it with him... I think I'd be 50/50 cold but I have been delusional a few times before so I think I'll have to try it out a few times tomorrow...

Need the therapy of the pool table to clear my mind...

We all know everyone is going to die but when they put a expiration date in front of you for a family member that is measured in days it sucks balls... And I'm not talking about the good aramith ones.....

The great thing about the 4 railer is that other pockets are still in play. I've hit the side on that shot quite a few times after the third rail.

Sorry about your family member, Chris. I pray that they don't suffer.

As to cutting the shot, the guy had practiced it for thousands of hours, and had it "down cold". He made a lot of money off that one shot! Who wouldn't bet on that shot not going?? It was actually tougher than shown though, both balls would be even in the center of the short rails and froze to the rail. Bucky Bell used to do something similar, he would put the cue ball on a piece of new chalk on the end rail and then cut the ball in. That way is actually a bit easier to do though, because you get better masse' on the cb.

To those of you suggesting the full ball double kiss, you do realize that the cue ball is frozen to the other rail nine feet away? And if you don't hit it perfectly, the 9 is going to shoot towards one corner or the other?

From this position, the double kiss is a sucker shot IMO.

If both balls are on the rail, the double kiss shot will not work. The top spin combined with the speed will kill the cue ball in the middle of the table. (To be effective, you have to hit center or below for the cueball to run) I agree with the agressive approach. Take the long bank to the side you are most comfortable and play the speed whereby if you miss, the object ball stops just short of the side and cueball on opposite long rail.

foul

if the nine is froze is to the rail then that rail is dead for play. a double kiss would be a foul unless the cue ball hit one of the other rails. think one pocket

Very true. Best to have draw spin at contact.

Yes, in 9 ball there are some situations where the highest percentage option is to just let it fly. Not only can the 9 go in, but the balls have a higher chance of separating when you hit them hard in this position.

3 rail it to the side pocket. with the proper speed, if you miss, you will leave the nine back on the short rail it started on, and the cue ball back near its starting point as well.
