Hello all,

I just ordered a cue case with brass hardware. I like the way the brass looks when it gets tarnished. Is there any way to speed up the process of getting it to tarnish?

Thanks
Ian

you may have to first remove any brass lacquer or other coating on the brass that is put on it to prevent oxidation. brush on some vinegar and it will oxidize fast. you can also use saltwater, but it takes a little longer.

BRASS BLACK can get this at gun store . Works real nice. Made by Birchwood Casey, I think. Jim

THanks for the responses. How would I go about removing the lacquer?

laquer thiner, cotton swabs, and be carefull not to get it on anything you dn't want it on. Jim

Being in a house full of women, I tend to use finger nail polish remover on things like this, it is an acetone based solvent that I can always find

will laquer thinner or nail polish remover mess up the black leather if it gets on the case at all?

Yes, most likely it would make a mess of any finish applied to the leather.
