How do you get in stroke for a big pool match?

Meaning, do you warm up before the match? Just play the match without warming up? Or are you already in stroke? Or maybe you just need to hit some balls before the match!

I lag a few down table to make sure my stroke is true.

hit a few spot shots for distance.

hit a few stop shots, follow, draw, an stun shots, all of which come up in play.

throw a few long rail shots up..an then I hit a few short rail an long rail banks up.

during all of this I just want to feel smooth..on line.
I'm not getting down on myself for anything..its important
to stay positive.thats what I do the day of important play.
all the above is done with in an hour..
have a good day bud.

I fire a few in at warp speed with loads of spin to get my elbow greased and my stroke smooth and comfortable. Then I'll throw 9 out and run them. If my stroke feels comfortable and powerful, I'm ready. Sometimes that means I need to stretch out a bit, or if it's been a lazy day, I try to get the blood flowing with some pushups (seriously haha) or go jog around the block. Actually it helps my confidence and focus tremendously to get lose and moving and make my heart work a little... though I do look like a goon doing pushups to get ready for a match haha.

I like to hit a couple banks before. Stun, follow, and float and that usually gives me a good idea of how I am hitting the balls.

The Target is the Cue Ball so you want to know you're connecting to it squarely

You better at least hit some long straight in shots to see how accurate you're hitting the cue ball and several shots off the rail.....the rest is personal preference.

The Target is the Cue Ball so you want to know you're connecting to it squarely, the rest will come easier after this is comfirmed.

If anyone ever figures out what makes one get in stroke they could bottle it and make some serious money.
