How do you get players back?

At a pool room I use to visit often is a guy that runs it and it seems that he has run everyone off. He is always cursing, talking very very nasty, and treating everyone like SH:T and if things don’t go his way he has got to where he is baring people. This pool room was packed at one time but now it is lucky to have five to ten people a day come in. The owner doesn’t seem to know about some of the things are going on there or he just doesn’t care as long as he gets his rent. Has anyone had anything like this in their area before? I have got to where I don’t even like to go and play there anymore because of the language and the things this guy is doing and treating people. It is the only pool room here and I am afraid that if something isn’t done we will lose it. He is some what of a friend of mine and I have talked about this with him but it doesn’t seem to be doing any good. What should we do?

that sux man!...especially if it's a place where you want to play. I always had a choice of where to play. I don't know what the right choice is in this circumstance? I can't see the place being successful when the owner is a dik, but, good luck to you!

Good luck teaching and old dod new tricks, I have seen businesses that stayed alive only when the owners realized he was the worst thing for the business, he probably thinks the winter will save him, but............

Thanks all, The guy I am speeking of had a small pool room of his own at one time and he ran all the players off and he had to close down. I would have thought he would have learn't from that but it appears that he hasn't. Everytime we say something about it now he blames it on being the summer and it will pick up when cold weather comes back. I really dont beleave it, I have talked to a lot of the players and they all feel the same way I do. Anyway thanks again

Maybe you can get a group together and buy the place? Hire a manager and make this place work for your community.

We are having the same problem here. The owner doesn't know about his house pro who has been 86'ed everywhere else for starting fights. He ran a tournament last weekend...he and Mike Z. were in the finals and he started his sh!t and Mike walked out.

I go there next week for a women's event. I wonder if he will bar me too? Hey, my first 86, woo-hoo!

I talked to the owner one time about buying the place and he is asking $250000.00 and he dosent even own the building. LOL he has 13 Kim Steel tables and a few bar tables and all of them need to be covored. The owner is just an old man that dosent need the money and i jusy hate to see the place going down hill like it is. Wish i could open my own place but the rent around here is out of site. O well maybe things will work out. Thanks to all

well.. the only other option is to open your own place.. comitition will be good and if his place is as bad as you say it will drive all the people who dont like it straight to you... there was a place around here that was for sale and he wanted like 80k for it.. which isnt a bad deal.. its a turn key buisness.. but its in a bad section of town, the customers arent that great and there arent many, all he has are about 15 tables and a counter.. all the machines are provided by the machine company..and he didnt even own the building.. it would be cheaper to take the 80 grand buy new tables and open somewhere better..

good luck with your problem..usually it will work out..

The same thing is happening to one of the pool halls I usta goto.

I started playing there back in spring of 2004, and its where i learned how to play pool. And the place was always packed for tournaments and just open play too. But the guy who owns the place re-cover'd the tables once, back in june of 2004, and hasnt done anything since then. You can go there and sometimes there might be 10 people in the building lol.

The reason i stopped going was him and one of his friends would non-stop haggle me about gambling with them, which got annoying, and other times, his friend would come back from the bar all blitz'd and it would be non stop cussing at you about how you was a pansy, if you didnt gamble with him for all your money.

The last reason, was these two guys were telling straight up lie's about me, and saying i was bragging about taking certain girls home with me. And telling these girls about it. Which this stuff never happend.

And then a good friend of mine who's been going to that pool hall for years on end, told me the guy is so far behind on his rent, he doesnt own any of his tables anymore, or anything in the building. Its all owned by the guy who owns the building.

Personally I could care less if anyone went to that pool hall, I have a new pool hall that I've been going to since spring of 2005.
