How do you play this common shot?

I don't know Chuck but we can put a little cash up so everyone can look up my skirt. I am not a champion but I do play, I learned years ago that a bar box was more my home more then a 9'. I have had a few decent years as a player and I've had my ass handed to me. I do think I have better then average knowledge of the game and it depends on which circle I am traveling as to whether I am a good player or not against the pro's I'm a dink against the dinks I'm a pro.

You seem like a good guy and a fine player from the looks of your posts. But anyway, if cutting is your game, you'll notice the OP (moi) is using a 9' Brunswick Tournament Edition table with 760 Simonis and 2 inch pockets. So, you got action!!! :p

I'm off to GCIII's. Gonna warm up with some 9B ghost, then play with this set-up. I'll have a full report on your desk in the evening. Cheerio Lads.

That's what I heard.....I don't remember calling anyone out. Since you're a pro to dinks, and I'm a dink...I will need big weight. We can work something out.

It seems like we are getting sidetracked here this has been a fun post, I have to go to work now so you boys enjoy yourselves I'll be at Boomers until I get to drunk to play tonight.

If you have time come down we can gamble, we can drink, we can gamble and drink, we can hang out, play pool, not play pool whatever. It gives me something to do I'm sure if you come out of Hard Times and you play in the Boomers Monday night tourny you play good enough, I meant no aggression towards you. Most likely there will be a few players there tonight.

Is this what you're describing? (my angles may be off a hair, but go with it)

CueTable Help

I tried this one. It looked interesting but yes the angles are a bit off. I had to shoot this just south of the side pocket with running english. I actually made it three out of ten cutting it across the short rail into the corner pocket. Didn't expect to have that happen. I think if you can get it to hit from behind the nine as illustratedit freezes the cue to the rail and generally forces the nine down to the opposite short rail. but i never had it fall into the middle of the rail. Generally closer to one of the pockets, so speed is important that the nine makes it to the rail. If you hit it in the face rather than the short rail kick it ends up being shot for the opponent because both balss generally end up in the middle of the table. Interesting shot though.

My verdict is in!

I have decided... After going to the hall tonight, and holding court with a number of Bees & Cees, many of whom took a stab at this predickamint...

I have a verdict!!

Give this shot to your opponent.

I placed the 9 (per the pretty darn accurate cuetable.com in my evil OP), less than 2 balls off the foot. CB less than 5" off the head. My results follow (BTW, I do beat the 9b ghost 2 out of 3 times in a race to 7 for a draft, so I am not a total chump, just new to "nuances").

Bank in the corner:
I made what I had spec'd in my first OP - 3 out of 10. And the leave on 5 of the missed 7, my epileptic pigmy friend would cash out on (he plays sporty, so don't turn your back on him).

Next option... Safety play which I described in post 21 - "split it in half". It often leaves a bank so elementary, this 3 toothed connundrum of a human being on the table next started drooling for even odds. I looked away, head bowed.

Next option... The "kick". I can curl the toes on a ... Nevermind. With the 9 ball so close to the rail, it isn't viable to swerve and deflect to a full enuf hit. So I pulled the 9 out to @ 5 inches and swerved into the full hit. That one needs more attention than the jaegar bomb I had just taken. It has merit.

As 2rbrgn said (is that backards cypher for "green burrito" or what?) in an eloquent post - dance with what gotcha there.

My crock pot pot roast is calling. Out.

Final Synopsis appears to be this situation Sucks no mater how you slice it.

Not that bad...just play a double kiss safety. High Center hit and let the object send the cue ball back to end table.
