How do you score a game of rotation?

I'm not asking about the rules. I'm asking how you physically score a game of rotation. Using beads? Something like straight pool where you count the difference between your opponent's score, and the remaing points on the table?

It seems it'd be distracting to score every time you make a ball. Thanks.

you just keep your balls on your ball rack just like one pocket, when you get close to 60 points add them in your head to see if u won or not. lol

Each ball is worth it's numerical value. First to 61 points wins. But there are a lot of diff games coming out of rotation too. Like what we called Money Ball. The money is on the 1,5,10, 15 balls and total points= 5 ways to get the money. Johnnyt

Thanks, nfty9er. That sounds pretty simple...Why didn't I think of that?:o

I still figure inexperienced players would forget to count them every now and again, no? :D But I guess it doesn't matter once you got 61. Duh!

Yeah, I know that. I meant how do you keep score during a game. But nfty9er already told me. Is money ball and pay ball one and the same game?

I'm pretty sure it is. I haven't played it in over 30 years. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. :D Johnnyt

We always kept score for the opposing player on a bar napkin while sitting. Same thing for pool halls that do not have beads(yes there are some without beads)

California pay ball

Back in the 70's, there was a tight 10' snooker table in the front of Bellflower Billiards, just up the street from the current Hardtimes. There used to be a running game of "Pay ball", using just 6 snooker balls, with the price of $10 a ball and $20 on the six and "paying double" on the 'break and runout" of the rack (also cheap games at $1 and $2). Thousands of dollars crossed the table among the players and especially during Fred Whalen's 14.1 World Championships held in LA every year. Almost any player who came to LA at the time ended up in Bellflower.
