I have a portable lathe and I want to know the best way to seal cue shafts with bee wax. How should I apply the wax?

Don't use bees wax...use a carnauba based wax and Apply w a clean soft cloth and burnish w leather...

Wax is a substance that will stick to everything but itself. If put on to thick or heavily it will becomes gummy both attracting dirt and not sliding smoothly. The way that I apply is that after cleaning, sealing and burnishing the shaft I spin the lathe as fast as possible (3600 rpm) and with a paper towel with very little wax move the towel over the shaft while applying pressure which creates heat. This melts the wax and thins it out so that it enters the pores of the grain of the shaft. I then take a dry paper towel and buff all of the excess wax off of the shaft so that all that remains is in the grain of the shaft and very little, if any, remains on the shafts surface. Seals, makes slick and not gummy and does not attract dirt.

I use one of those ten day christmas candles. I suppose that's why it takes so long for me to complete my work.
