How does the az player rank work?

I was just searching some guys I know just to see if their name was listed. There was a guy I know who's was ranked and had moved up 8 spots, It showed his last winnings as 2004. Now how do they have him ranked and how did he move up? It's not like he's highly ranked but I was wondering how they keep up with this?

I think your rank moves up based on how many people are viewing your profile. If you win a few regional tournaments, and people search for you on here, you move up a lot.
