How is this done?

I love the wrap on the CP cue in the F/S section. Anyone know exactly how the look is achieved? I can't tell if it is two different color linens combined, or if the linen was dyed somehow while or after it was applied.

Do you just knot the darker to the lighter or do you pin it somehow?

I have done it both ways. When using more than one color of linen, I drill a small hole & pin the two ends, with a toothpick. When the linen is pressed you won't see the hole. If you dye the linen, you start with a lighter color & dye the darker areas. An interesting pattern can be gotten if you dye every other foot or so. You end up with an 1/8" stripe of white, followed by an 1/8" strip of black...JER

I once saw a Cuesmith duct tape a magic marker to the tool post on a lathe & accomplish the same look.

I would do it Arnott's way if I was going to do it at all. I would be afraid of a marker or such bleeding into the surrounding linen over time from sweat or dampness.

I've done this quite a bit on some older cues. I stop and pin one color and start another.
