How long should I expect my cloth to last? Its mali 21oz on an 8 ft vitalie. I practice every day 1-2hrs/day. And I really do mean practice. So setting up shots to repeat with stickies does leave burn marks on my cloth and even though quick clean helps erase them, when you look closely you can see the fabric being worn out where the CB was.

I've had the table for about 2 yrs but its only had bout 5 months of serious practice time like the one described above.

The reason I ask is because I've been thinking of buying a new set of tournament aramith balls to replace my 'standard' aramith set. But then it ocurred to me if I end up having to re-felt my table soon I'm gonna wish I had those $219. I plan to refelt with simonis when the time comes so its gonna be pricey! :)

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated!

P.S.
Sorry for the typos in the title. My phone keys are really small :)

I would say it should last forever if you want it to have the same playing conditions of most bar tables and many PH's

The same for the balls. No reason to get new balls if you play at places with bad conditions. Most have balls that are worse than the cloth.

Well, I don't play at PH's or Bars. I only play on my home table for my own enjoyment. Thx for the reply.

I have an 8 foot AMF Playmaster Hanover table with Simonis 860 and Aramith Super Pro balls and it was well worth the money. Have you played on Simonis yet? If not find a pool hall in your area that uses Simonis 860 and try it out.

Change it at about the same time you would change your loincloth. To avoid embarassment.

I got about 5 years out of my last cloth practicing daily/cleaning weekly

It's showing it's age now.. I'll probably replace it about a month before league starts again in the fall.

p.s if you do a lot of jumping or jump practice.. cut that time frame in half.. at least

I have a 9 ft Brunswick that I bought in 1975. I replaced the cloth in Nov of 2010 with Simonis 860.

The original cloth was Brunswick's premium. The reason that I replaced it was because there was a hole that was worn at the head spot from the first ball in the rack. There were also tracks along the rail that were worn enough to make a ball follow the track if hit slow enough to make the ball go around the tip of the rail. The table had 3 sections of slates and they were getting out of level causing the balls to roll off. That was basically why I decided to replace the cloth.

Basically I was the only person playing on it or using it. I didn't jump balls on it and didn't abuse it. I would vacuum it weekly and never put a cover on it.

Get the Simonis if you can afford it. In the long run it will be cheaper because it will last longer and you will enjoy playing on it.

Things that will wear really wear the cloth is jumping balls. It not only makes a impression and burn mark where the ball was but also where it bounces.
Super hard breaks will also make the cue ball burn the cloth and make hop marks in the cloth. If you break from the same spot you will begin to see the track to the rack. Hitting balls hard into the rails will also cause burn marks that will contribute to the rail tracks. Setting up a straight in shot like the mighty X and practicing it over and over will also make a track. Don't chalk you cue while holding it over the table and occassionally clean the balls. Wipe the CB off after every rack.

The cloth will basically last as long as you are satisfied with it. When it gets to the condition that is bad for you than replace it. Years ago the tables came with a sewing repair kit to sew rips together. Cloth was rarely replaced. It was 35 years before I replaced my cloth and it was still in better condition than most tables.

Thx for the replies. Greatly appreciated :)
