How long before Earls wins?

I will take Earl against no gambling Ralph, as well as Efren against your boy Shane in the future. Hopefully you can saddle someone up against my horse for some long rack banks at the derby? I know you must have someone in mind.:)

That depends. Who's your horse? Earl?

Tony, the one the only bank legend.:D

Good choice. My horse is Glenn Rogers aka "Piggy Banks". If he doesn't show up, I would love to see Jason Miller play him. I'm pretty sure they've played before. Do you know?

I used to watch Fargo in Memphis... And in Poplar Bluff...

I also got to see his personal sketches of bank diagrams that he gave to a pool room owner in Memphis... His methods are strange, he throws in every single bank...

He also beat Earl in an open tournament in Memphis... 9 ball, big tables...

I just watched the entire Mosconi Cup and without a doubt Earl is a true champion that can get it done! It is just a matter of time and he will win again. He didn't beat the wold pool champion the "Peach", he broke him down on a national stage and dominated him! Say what you want, bash him all day, but he is a force that will not lay down on the USA team. I just hope that somehow someway the euros will come to the derby next month and look him up for some action. My window will be open!!!!:)
Earl's talent was never in question. As a pool-player, he's undoubtly one of the best. He's got all the tools and enough talent to show he's right up there AND has the record to prove it.

That being said, HE WAS NEVER (afaik) bashed for lack of talent or skill. All the badmouthing he's getting is due to the conduct he shows. Sure he is great. But he's not the only great player around and he seldom shows any form of respect to his peers and even worse to newer players! It's the way he acts, the way he talks, the body language and facial expression that he shows to everyone else (opponents, crowd, officials) that gets him into trouble. And he continually blames his loses on everyone or everything else. Sometimes/most times, he can't accept the fact that he simply lost to a better man that particular day!?! He can't seem to understand that he simply can't win everything. If he does lose, it's not his fault....it's someone else's!

His conduct tends to affect other players' and people's moods in a negative way as to bring the hurt on himself. I remember him saying something that is probably one of the most honest self-opinions that I've heard from top pros; "I am my own worst enemy!" (Earl Strickland)

That is soooo true! And especially undeniable coming from Earl Strickland.

So, all you Earl fans, get it thru to your skulls that he is undeniably a great pool-player. But he is a truly bad sportsman and representative of the game!

Does anyone truly believe he can win a major, in his current state of mind? Probably not. But I am with a lot of you... he is not far from still being one of the best in pool.

To hijack this thread for a moment... do most of you believe that we are watching the greatest pool ever played by the pros right now? I feel Shane is playing strong enough to beat people of any era, but the bulk of the pros right now do not look as consistant as the top players from even a few years ago. Archer, who has been placing well lately, is not at the top of his game. Cory, who has been doing well lately, is still not playing as well as he is capable. Alex P. is looking inconsistant.

My thought is, other than Shane, the bulk of the pool world does not seem in top form. I think, in this enviorment, Earl could get his head together and string together some nice tournaments. Now if Efren, Busta, Cory, Alex P, Occulo... or any other of the top players start playing to their potential it would certainly lesson the chances of Earl making any real splash.

Now is all this in my head, or are the best of the best not playing as well as they could?
