With the growth of pool, television and consumerism in the Pacific Rim, can it be very long before Matchroom replaces the US team with an Asian team: Europe vs. Asia-Pacific Mosconi Cup?
Note, this has nothing to do with won/loss records, competitivness, etc. It's strictly from a money-perspective of maximizing the audience/ad dollars. If ESPN wants to expand its brand in the Asia-Pacific region, it would be a good move for them too.
It would be interesting to know how many people (and from what countries) watched the Mosconi Cup via TV, computer streaming, etc. I bet it was fewer than 5,000 in the US. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that more people in Asia-Pacific watched the Mosconi Cup than in the US.
They'll drop it when the rest of the world tires of watching the USA get our asses kicked, which is "never" by the way.
