I find that I don't really seem to get into stroke until about 1-2 hours in. After that, I shoot pretty well for maybe 2 hours. I always envy the guys who shoot lights out without even hitting a ball.

I know many that will hit balls somewhere else before coming to match. Then they show up at the last minute and play lights out! LOL.

on average about 20 minutes then im good to go for about 4-6hrs.

this is a good question, ive always wondered the same thing about others.

You must have a good stroke already to make it '1-2 hours in'.
and 2 hours later you're still in.... lots of players would like that ability.

I can usually tell how good I am going to play with just 9 balls on the table. If I can see the edges of the balls clearly, I will do OK, if fuzzy... I don't play.

I think the 1-2 hours is the time it takes me to really focus... then I focus for 2 hours and get tired! :p

Depends on the temperature outside...if my body is warm, I'm usually playing well. I think playing regularly (everyday for 30 min+) will help you "stay in stroke".

I do find that I am a little rough after a vacation from pool of more than a couple days.

Assuming I'm playing fairly regularly, I don't need to warm-up at all. So often I find myself in situations where I don't even get to warm up so I have to believe I can play my best without it.

It depends on how long a break in between pool and golf i have taken....
If i have been playing pool at least 3 times a week then 30 min or less....
Just depends.

This is the same with me...except I either play some, or teach, almost every day. One of the biggest benefits of having an accurate, repeatable stroke, is that you can eliminate the "need" to 'warm up' for 30 minutes-2 hours. Whenever I play, I just screw my cue together, and play full speed off the first shot. Rather than needing to pocket balls, I will run the CB up and down the table, and around the cushions, to see how that table plays. That's because I have developed TRUST in my stroke. That means I can strike the CB exactly where I want to, at whatever speed I want, on demand, under pressure, on ANY pool table...on the FIRST try.

I almost always play a 3 hours stretch, and 75% of the time, I show a marked improvement at 2 hrs 45 minutes.

Pisses me off to no end.

if i'm playing everyday it usually takes just a few racks and to run through a few drills and i'm as good as i'm gonna get. my girlfriend on the other hand takes about an hour and then she plays great. i think it's a very individual thing.

Warm ups?

What are we warming up for? Pool doesn't require stretching or anything special that I know of. I like to get to a tournament about 10-15 minutes early just so my eyes can adjust to lower light and if it is cold out I have a chance to "warm up" my bones a lil before playing.
If like me, you play a lil every day or so, warming up is unnecessary. Just point and shoot I say.

My wife says it takes me forever to warm up now, but on the pool table it takes me less than a half hour. Johnnyt

Priorities, priorities. :p

I usually come in spread the balls out and shoot them in random order for about an hour, i feel that helps me get into stroke.

30 minutes. but it all just depends. If im playing someone easy then no need to warm; ill just do it in game. If im playing someone better than me, then an hour would be best.

Just hitting some balls around the table for 10 or 15 mins. will give you a good idea of how the table plays, and that is all you need. From that point on it's all how you handle your nerves.
Tony Ellin once told me, you can practice until your arm falls off, but when you get in to the match everything changes. It's how you handle your nerves. He was so right.
I really miss my friend Tony, as i'm sure we all do.
